Is it okay to use code from the Cookbook in a commercial game?

#1 Post by edgebug »

The title says it all. Is everything in the cookbook free to use in a commercial project? Thank you!

A lot of the things in the cookbook are free to use in a commercial project, but not everything. I remember a battle engine where the poster said: Free to use in a free project, but you need to pay me for a commercial project. I remember another cookbook where the person said: free to use, but you have to get my permission.

Generally, look at the post. If there are restrictions, they should say. If you are very worried, just give the creator a quick DM to check.
A Close Shave:
*Last Thing Done (Aug 17): Finished coding emotions and camera for 4/10 main labels.
*Currently Doing: Coding of emotions and camera for the labels--On 5/10
*First Next thing to do: Code in all CG and special animation stuff
*Next Next thing to do: Set up film animation
*Other Thing to Do: Do SFX and Score (maybe think about eye blinks?)

Personally anything I stick in the cookbook, I expect to be used however a person may wish.

Some of the more complex stuff may have some restrictions as noted by Trooper6
Warning: May contain trace amounts of gratuitous plot.

I didn't know about the cookbook. That's useful.

If there are other people who didn't know, here's where you can find more: viewtopic.php?f=51&t=34131
