Sites that Specialise in Covering Indie VNs?

#1 Post by Katy133 »

Does anyone have any recommendations for news outlets, blogs, specific journalists, Twitter accounts, YouTube channels, etc that showcase, review, or cover smaller VN titles, or small indie games?

I was recently listening to a video from Errant Signal about how niche and untouched tiny games are in gaming news.

I don't know of very many, but I enjoy EVN Chronicles! He posts every week I think and reviews a wide variety of English VNs. I found some recent posts he did on My Little Pony fanfiction VNs really interesting - there were so many strange niche projects I had never heard of. I also sporadically review VNs on my own blog, but I sometimes talk about bigger budget Japanese ones or other kinds of games too - just whatever I happen to play and have opinions about.

There's a user here with a blue bird avatar and bird in their name (sorry, that's all I remember) who covers a lot if small indie VN news.
Could probably find their blog if I looked around.

Hey, my blog got namedropped by someone else than myself, that's neat! :D I actually mostly upload one post every two weeks nowadays, but I'm also working on pushing some EVN content on Fuwanovel: the site is slowly getting revived for the first time in like two years and it might show some life soon. :)

Other than that, NookGaming is pretty active lately. NoisyPixel also covers VNs pretty frequently, although usually JVNs rather than EVNs. With blogs or Youtubers, I'm not really sure... ShadyCorner covers eroge and there's a good bunch of VN let's players, but for actual news and commentary, and channels/sites that are active on a regular basis, there's not that many, to say the least.

About a year ago I started a YouTube channel Azar Reviews to cover indie EVNs (which now has a blog as well). Apart from let's plays, I haven't really found any other EVN-focused channel, which feels weird but apparently that's how it is :) Not many people covering indie visual novels...
