I give up.
To stop the unending and wearying waves of spammers, I've set a password that new members are required to know to join the LSF. Members with at least 5 posts can find the password at:
viewtopic.php?f=72&t=56372
Feel free to give this to anyone legit, but don't post it publicly. I've also created a channel on the Ren'Py discord where new users can ask for it. The will be changed on an as-necessary basis.
Thanks to spammers, the permissionless Internet is no more.

I understand the difficulty of this decision.
If you require additional moderation help, I'm sure there are a few members who are more than capable/willing to help.

I'm really glad you took this step. I felt really sorry for the mods with how the waves of spammers just kept coming every day, and it discouraged me from checking the forums.

I'm glad you took this step, because the spam was really getting out of control.
I feel it's necessary, unfortunately. It was getting discouraging to check the forums and see so many new topics that weren't actually new topics.

This is, honestly, why I did it.

It sucks that it had to come to this but I agree with your decision completely. Some people get a kick out of ruining it for others :/

I've cleaned up at bit more of the spam mess, by going in and deleting some of the profile fields from users with 0 posts. Hopefully, this will get rid of some of the stealth spam, where users would add links to their profiles.
