And which have been the most succesful? We haven't exactly set the world alight yet, but I thought I'd share the statistics for our first free browser game:

Witches and Bandits and Swords (Oh My)

Kongregate Plays 3,037, Reviews 10 (9 positive, 1 negative), 10 followers, Rating 2.95/5

Newgrounds Plays 2,698, Reviews 5 (5 positive), 8 followers, Rating 3.26/5

Itch.io Plays 438, Reviews 1 (1 positive), 4 followers, no star rating system

Gamejolt Plays 101, Reviews 2 (2 positive- both from streamers), 2 followers, 5 game followers, no star rating system

itch.io actually does have a star rating system, but I rarely remember to use it, and I would guess a lot of others don't remember to either.

I've only used itch since I'm very very much a hobbyist dev and not looking to make a whole lot of money or anything. My first game, The Dark, has 615 views, 144 downloads, and 2 ratings for an average of 4 stars. My second game, which was a super short demo for a project that I never finished, has 2058 views, 240 downloads, and 3 ratings for an average of 3.66 stars.

Ah right, I didn't know that.

Yeah, Kong and Newgrounds are definitely worth checking out if your games can be played on a browser as they usually get more views- the only downside is that VNs don't tend to be as popular on the more casual sites.

Will have to check out your games sometime :)

I've used itch.io, Gamejolt, and RMN. I've definitely garnered the most success and downloads from itch.io! But GJ isn't bad either, and I was surprised how many DLs I got for one of my VNs I posted at RPGMaker.net. But itch.io definitely is the highest!

I would love itch.io, but i dont have any account yet, but sooner or later.
Itch.io is what i like, because you could also let your game profile into a good style for it, and i seen people post indie and novel games, (especially renpy and unity3ds.)

Overall, good ratings.

It seems to me that you need to first understand who your target audience for the game is
