Oy. The article focuses on the game's origins at 4chan. In b4 Delta and other members of Four Leaf Studios have a fit.
That being said, it's a good article, and it discusses the major points. A lot more people are going to be exposed to a great game because of it.

She's sun and rain: She's fire and ice. A little crazy, but it's nice.

Yeah. The article mostly seems to be the author marveling that the usually snarky 4-channers have managed to come up with a good, solid game with - potentially - some genuine pathos.Tsundere Lightning wrote:Oy. I have to agree. And honestly, if not for the uniqueness of the hook, I actually doubt KS would be attracting as much attention as it is. But hey - that's the name of the game.
Re: You know you've made it when your VN is on Kotaku
I think while the effective hype machine got KS on Sankakucomplex, I do believe it was having the right connections that got it on Kotaku (the author is pretty much a headhoncho who has had exposure to visual novels), not that there isn't anything wrong with that.
Having your game further cemented as the offspring of 4ch is probably gonna hurt. It's like having my own game labelled as "shitty OELVN from the shitty LSF community" regardless of its own merits, and ignoring the fact that though the creators have been very active in the community in the past, the project has since stood on its own two feet and would have prospered regardless of any community association.
I also think it's not really an enviable position to be in. There's just too much pressure now to deliver the polish and not disappoint. Like with all long-term game projects, this naturally means engine and graphics upgrades to keep the build up to date. When these updates spiral out of control, it's called Duke Nukem Forever.
We have all this effort for a premise contributed by various strangers, some of whom probably disappeared by now. It's different than a work where the writers or artists take total ownership of the work -- having created the characters entirely by themselves.

Yeah, I have to say I enjoyed what I've seen so far about KS and Act 1 was one of the things that got me back into doing VNs once again. The game for the most part respects what it's writing about and I found myself playing through all of the storylines (though this may be because I got the bad one first)
But, I already wrote a review about the game and I won't restate all the stuff I've said before (I wouldn't want to bore you
)

I know exactly what you mean, and they did make the game so that it would have to be a lot more branching than they otherwise would have. I just hope that the game comes out sometime in the next few years and doesn't become another DNF

You have to give delta_kurshiva credit...
He or she took an unorganized mass of prospective writers, editors, and artists and turned it into a workable, likable game.
Such an attempt is definitely commendable and of the 30-45 minutes I spent playing Katawa Shoujo (English: Gimpy Girls. Irony—I was limping yesterday on a swollen knee... ) were well-spent. Misha and Hisao are well-rounded characters and Rin (the girl without arms) is my personal favorite.
Someone on /d posted a picture of the protagonist sliding an engagement ring onto her toe, and I was sold after that...

Don't worry, we can get through it together. I didn't forget about you! I just got overwhelmed.
