Just dropping by... for science!

#1 Post by Greeny » Wed Feb 24, 2010 7:26 am

Alright, I don't frequent this board because while I plan to at one point step into Visual Novel-ing I've got a busy schedule at the moment. But I require a little bit of your time.

Anyways, so for school I'm conducting a small-scale sociological research on gender roles and views and the internet. The idea is to run a questionnaire/survey. It's a bit of a long one; but I'd appreciate it if you filled it out and sent it on (anonymously if you want) to gottaloverealscience@gmail.com.

Also, I'm not sure if it's a good survey so feedback will be appreciated so I might make amendments to get better results.
Anyways, just copy into a new mail, fill out and send.

Questionnaire

Quick guide:
On open questions, feel free to respond in short or in any way which you feel will answer the question sufficiently. If a question is hypothetical for you, don’t feel compelled to answer it.
On multiple choice questions, simply type an “X” or any other clear, distinct mark of choice to indicate the answer that fits the most accurately.
On statements (indicated by #), type a number from 1 to 5 after the statement, meaning as follows:
1= Disagree
2= Disagree, but not entirely
3= No particular opinion
4= Agree, but not entirely
5= Agree

We hope you will answer this questionnaire truthfully. If there are any questions you really don’t feel comfortable answering, you are not compelled to give a response.

Your last questions are each worthy of entire books in themselves; since I can't take the time to answer them properly and don't want to give a stupid incomplete answer, it puts me off trying to answer *anything*.

Also, talking about sex and gender and NOT addressing the trans issue makes things a little confusing.

Well I did consider that, but my research doesn't really go into that area because I won't be able to draw any patterns or answers from trans people. Nothing against them, but they're not really the target subjects of my research.

# The average woman is more suitable for housework.
# The average man is more suitable for physically exerting jobs.
I don't know how to read those. Is it "more suitable for <task> than other tasks" or "more suitable for <task> than an average member of the other sex"?
Grand list of things not officially canceled:
Salt -- the heartwarming story of brain-eating space worms
Tangent -- an epic poem and/or novel about a borderline-autistic Martian imp and her relationship with God
Kittens of the Darned -- a grimdark soap opera about sexy catgirls (Indefinitely postponed until I learn to draw and color realistically)
The Other Mary -- the most perfect fic about the most perfect Mary Sue EVER
Rockheart -- a short story about a monster who kills everyone
Corrupted -- a completely different short story about a monster who kills everyone (late Worst Visual Novel Ever)
Checkpoint 36a -- the transcription of a short multi-ending dream about time travel and undead schoolgirls
In Which the Princess is Kidnapped -- an entry in the "ordinary girl ends up in an alien universe and tries to save it" genre
Pictogram Scramble: Magical Friendship Bunny Ivy -- a Flash game about a magical girl making friends (Indefinitely postponed until I learn how friendship works)
