Avatars for the forum (or forums in general)

#1 Post by MaiMai »

Do you make your own avatars when you're on forums or do you just look up an image and edit it for your use? If you do make your own avatar, who or what is it and where do they come from?

I made my avatar a chibi of my character Ai Thao from my first project Phase Shift. These were my previous avvys. The purple haired girl is my OC Hiyo and the other girl is Isabella or 'Izzy.' I just wanted to play around with a certain style, but it looks rather creepy huh? |D

I actually didn't make this avatar, I kind-of suck at drawing chibi-style.

But when I saw this chibi Sephiroth I knew I must make him mine!!!! I will make a homemade one later, but for now I'll keep this mini-Sephy-me.

Other avatars I like using are usually Alucard, or Terra Branford.

Aw your avatars are so cute guys! :D

I was going to draw mine but got lazy. Maybe one day when I get something up on the WIP section...
At the moment, my picture is of Ashe and Leni from the otome pc game Under the Moon. (18+ ...heh.^^;;)
I adore this artist to death, her artwork and cgs are very pretty (*w*)

Well, since my drawing skills aren't all that great (read pretty damn horrible), I'm just using this avatar since it kinda reminds me of myself :P I mean, I'm a lazy blonde who likes to stay in bed and, uhm... be lazy XD
It's Aya from Ayashi no Ceres, in case anyone was wondering ^^

I use my own drawings in Lemmasoft and Deviant Art. In other forums, I use my favorite female/male characters instead. :D

I created this as a logo for the sprite creation program I'm working on (well, not actively working on) called Paper Tiger, but I'm not totally happy with it. Anyway, I decided it's good for my avatar at least, although it didn't shrink all that well.

I generally make all my avatars myself. My current one here (which I've had here for a long time, with a short recent exception) is a digital painting of Our Lady Sanakan. On other forums I'll often use something else appropriate to the place.

The only time I remember using an avatar I didn't make myself in the last few years was here, for the last month or so - when I used the Take Back Parliament flag, in support for a campaign for proportional representation in the UK. But realistically, we've been promised a referendum on the Alternative Vote and that's all we're going to get in this government, so it's not so relevant any more.

I normally make my own avatars, either from drawings of mine I like or just draw them specifically for avatar use.
The only place use avatars not made by me, is Livejournal, where I have a few avatars from anime series I really like just for fangirling purposes C:

I made this avatar myself as a Deviant ID, but it sorta became the avatar that I use everywhere. I didn't put any real thought process into making it, other than it should just look as good as possible. ^^

Now that you mention it, I suppose it's the obvious thing to do, making your own Avy in a forum with som many graphic artists xD.

The only time I've drawn myself was a while ago, next to a girl I loved loads, you can see my cringy self there now, since I've replaced the old Shin Megami Tensei avatar I had there.

I should probably make myself an avatar sometime...

But for now, it's just a screenshot of L that I would on the internet.

I always use my own drawings. Current one is the Mad Hatter from the new Alice in Wonderland. C:
