Choose your own adventure games are quite different from classic visual novels IMHO.
There have been some made earlier this year from big blue bubble like "The Warlock of Firetop Mountain" in january, or last year for nintendo DS.

Pretty cool. I saw the original U games out there back when the iPhone first came out. Giving them a VN makeover is a great idea.

From the consumer's point of view, competition is a good thing, of course. So it's fine by me!

Think of it this way: if your product is any good, it'll stand up fine against the competition and people will still give you money; if it isn't and you started making money despite that, it wouldn't last very long before someone realised you'd discovered/created a new market segment and moved in with a better product, by which time you might have invested your new earnings in future growth which turns out not to happen.

Plus, more people in a market = more people spending money advertising the same kind of product = more people aware that VNs exist and potentially buying yours. An advert for a deodorant spray is an advert for that specific company's deodorant spray because everyone knows what one is and why they need it; an advert for a VN is at least partially an advert for all VNs, because the consumer doesn't necessarily know what a VN is and why they want one yet.

Yeah, I agree. I also made a post about that a while ago: http://www.winterwolves.net/blog/2010/0 ... od-or-bad/
quoting also Jeff Vogel who is a well known RPG author. I honestly think, especially between indies, is hard to find real competition.

I played that game. Pretty fun. Phoenix Wright is better =P
I played all of Phoenix Wright's games. I however stopped playing Edgeworth's game. Wanted trials~~~

From what I read, it doesn't try to make something similar to VN, but rather making something that really similar to a book (a CYOA book, to be exact). Now I want to know the bookmark/save feature...

Aw, you shouldn't have stopped playing it. The second and third cases are both silly beyond recognition, but cases four and five are among the best cases of the entire Ace Attorney franchise.

I also second Taleweaver. Edgeworth's game was pretty exciting.

Demokratiya- (Adventure/Action) I'm kind of winging it with this one. Goal is 100,000 words. Yeah, it's gonna take a while.

@Topagae:
"@Edgewort"? How you're trying to talk with? There's no Edgeworth here ^_^ (jk)

I played Edgeworth as well... it's good and refreshing, though I'm slightly disappointed at lacks of court section (though it's to be expected since theme of the game is not court but detective) and very disappointed at how easy the game is...

Anyone who love mystery should at least try this game.
