New Administrator: Sake-Bento

Over the past few months, it's become increasingly clear that the forum would be benefit from the addition of new adminstrative staff, both for times when Lemma and myself are not present, and in order to bring new ideas to the team.

On behalf of the forum adminstration, I'd like to welcome a new member of our team: Sake-Bento.

Sake has demonstrated a commitment to the community through posting, blogging, and speaking about a variety of issues related to visual novel development. She releases both commercial and free games, spanning that divide. She'll bring a new perspective, and will nicely complement us, especially when it comes to issues like GxB and other engines, where we may have a conflict of interest. In all, we think she'll be an incredible addition to our team, and we're glad she's willing to give some of her time to the forum.

As a member of the forum adminstration team, she'll have the ability to move, edit, and delete posts, and to warn, moderate, and ban users. More importantly, she'll have the ability to speak with authority when forum members are getting out of line.

So please join me in welcoming Sake-bento to her new role.

Now I'll be able to sleep peacefully. This was definately the best choice, congratulations Sake and please, do well :) I hope that with your commitment, this forum will gain a significant boost in power, it doesn't have to be over 9000 but anything would be great! :)

To Pytom - are you giving new administrators full freedom to change and revise forums as they want (everything, of course according to the rules), or just tossing some privileges to ease the staff? I do know, that any bigger changes should be widely considered with other people in the team, but it's sometimes impossible to do so. Also, I hope it's not the beggining of your plan to step down from the spotlight and leave us :)

*clap, clap, clap*

Congratulations, Administrator Sake! I don't post a lot, but I do enjoy lurking in the corners of this forum. I appreciate the time and effort the administration puts into keeping this forum neat and tidy, and I hope that this addition will make life easier for everyone.

A most logical and welcomed choice. If you had picked some other 'older' or 'veteran' member you would be risking alienating some people because of the cliquishness that exists in these forums (and VN-related forums in general, just sayin').

Sake-bento-sama seems to have earned the respect of everyone equally. Plus the GxB community is much larger (also thanks to her projects) and needs policing by someone actually interested in GxB works.

I'd expect major decisions, like creating a forum, to be a team effort. It's tough to think of any situation where we wouldn't have time to discuss this sort of thing. Similarly, policy actions would also be a group decision. The only place I reserve exclusive authority is on the technical side, and that's just because I'm the only one with access to the database and server. :-)

I have no desire nor inclination to do so. That being said, I may step back from using admin powers in controversial situations, especially ones where I might be perceived as having a conflict of interest. Previously, there wasn't really much of a choice.

If anything, I hope this will leave me with more time to spend on Ren'Py.

Welcome!

(I won't say 'congratulations', 'cause that makes it sound like you've won a prize, rather than a new job. :P)
