I do that but I never feel weird about it. I mean, there are only one or two forums where I'm an integral member that I would feel bad leaving. Fortunately I don't make commitments I'm not going to follow through on. I know what you mean about being like "Oh hai thar I'm back and stuff so like yeah". There is one forum I have a little story about. I joined youngwritersonline.net when I was in 8th grade and got along pretty well with everyone. Probably because I've had super duper grammar since forever. Anywho, I became a pretty well known member, not a veteran but I had 1100 posts or so. But when school began to kill me and my ADD/anxiety got in the way of me writing I would never contribute anything serious. I started to feel guilty and disappeared for a while (not to mention my mom got drunk one time and threw my computer in the pool because I was using it in my room WHILE I WAS HOME ALONE). Rage. Um, back to what I was saying, I disappeared for a few months. I had made a lot of good friends there but I didn't think it was appropriate I just spam the forum when I didn't write. I came back briefly but since I didn't contribute it was a no go. Only recently did I rejoin. I have a new account but I was pretty open with "Hey I'm really so-and-so". I partly got a new account because I wanted to start fresh and partly because I no longer have access to that email . It makes me a little sad inside since so much has changed and we were a really close knit group but I'm glad I came back.

The only other forum is Fantasia and I own that shit.

Yeah, unless you're leaving for story purposes (character dies/character disappears... though I am not exactly sure how RP forums work so it might be different.. you could lurk or create other characters)
if the character isn't dead yet, dissapearing would mess up the storyline.

But what if a character disappears for storyline purposes? I guess you could lurk then.. But as I said before, I have not much experience with RP forums so I might be wrong.

lol. I've only RPed once or twice, and that was on a chat room. Would love to do it again but I don't know any good ones that don't involve vampires that I'd be interested in. Oh well.

You guys should swap IM names with each other so you can chat to your hearts' content. XD There's nothing wrong with following a natural thread of discussion, but if it's turning into a casual chat, it's best to migrate to PMs or instant messengers.

I usually get a lot of projects I drop and though I'm getting better at it it still happens. That and I try to keep busy all of the time really. Most of the time I leave for a bit due to social or mental issues. I usually come back though.
