I'm from Mexico (born an raised), french from my mother side and mexican from my father side (I don't speak french, irony). My first languaje is spanish and I'm fan from homebrew games (rpg maker, game maker, DS maker, 2d fighter maker... and more programs with "maker" in the title). I have little experience but I do what I can... I like to write histories and a few know what I do, sometimes I believe that I do not like to have many secrets.

My english is not good (sorry about that).

I was born in Germany, raised in Germany and am still living in Germany (Berlin). My family situation is pretty rare, as I could go back ten or twelve generations on both sides and only meet - well, Prussian -ancestors. Most people living here have mixed origins.

I speak and write German fluently (who would have thought ...) and always hated English (and any other language for that matter) because I never was good at learning them. My teachers made me go through special classes and whatnot to teach me the joy of another language - I couldn't speak a single word when I was in 8th grade.
Then I got my hands on Shuffle! (my first visual novel) which was in Japanese that time. I fell in love with it and made my priority to be able to understand the English translation (I never read it in the end, though) - that's how I learned English within one and a half year. Animes helped me a lot.

I'm still bad at learning languages, but next I have set my goal to be able to understand Shuffle! in Japanese - which is why I haven't done so in English yet

I'm also german, and so are my parents, so it's not as interesting a story as many of you have...

Of course, I speak german, I was taught English in school (as you can see, I'm able to write in english ;-)) and also French, but I'm not too good at French. I'll try to fresh it up during a holiday in France this summer, since I want to study in Switzerland and it could be helpful to practice (from the second year on, talks could also be in french, depending on the teacher).

So, that's me.
It's really interesting to hear about all your different ethnical backgrounds... A good idea to make this thread, since it really shows the internationality of our community. :-)
Take a look at Perios - Chained Sorceress!
And also on Sword vs. Staff, my short new project...
And, of course, our blog!

I'm so glad I choose Latin in school ... always preferred Rom over Paris.

That makes us two :)

That makes us two :)
Well, I'm pretty sure we can find more than the two of us being german here ;-)
(Since I actually am here, because a friend of mine showed the forum to me ;-))

I did Latin as well - for half a year, as a third foreign language. Stopped because it was kind of boring, I hate learning deklinationen (that's what they're called, isn't it?) by heart, and because it was very bad to have two hours of latin after a day of school without a break for lunch (I always had a headache afterwards... two times a week :? )
And at least, French isn't dead ;-)
But Latin indeed is inspiring (mythology, vocab) to find names for worlds etc. Though I prefer greek a little. But all this is only possible because of online dictionaries and google ;-)

Edit: Really sorry for going off-topic!

I'm American, German descent, but a long time ago, I don't celebrate any German holidays or have any real desire for German food. I mean, when your great, great, great grandfather came over to the US...

I took a few years Spanish in high school but don't remember much. So, yeah, kind of boring! :P

I don't think any kinds of stories regarding your root is boring. Even when two people have the same ethnicities, their way of living, where they came from, how you found this site, etc will all be different.

:)

That's just my two cents

I'M GERMAN AS WELL, make me three? *is shot*

Ah, wait, I'm a Vietnamese German, born in Germany and up until now have traveled four times to my parents' home country. I speak fluent, simple Vietnamese (I lack a lot of vocabulary so, I usually mix German words into my conversatiosn when I can't help it...which sounds funy for those who listen xD ...though my friend says Vietnamese sounds aggressive but thet might be because my mother and I usually argue when we talk and that is when she listens...), therefore grew up bilingual...and everyone around me (of my relatives who are all Vietnamese) says I look like a Japanese. ...and while on an exchange program in Japan with a bunch of other Germans I was promptly mistaken for Japanese.

Hm, my English was horrible when I started it. Then I came across fanfictions (of anime, manga and games, of course) and now I'm one of the better English students at my school xD Except for my expressions, I even have problems in German when it comes to expressions (I believe that is because I grew up bilingual? NOOOPE NOT MY FAULT D: *is shot, again*) And I am prome to make stupid typos due to quick typing...

I intend to learn Japanese after I finish school (which is in...uh, two months? That is if I don't fail my exams in a few days...) and...uh...wait, this had nothing to do with ethnicities anymore....

Well, we outlived the two biggest wars in history (and were indirect cause of them), so why not a third ...? We've got experience 8)

Funny vid.

Russian-Afghani over here to repell the Germans (Us Russians beat you twice, and we'll beat you again :P)!

I was raised here in Massachusetts on the East Coast of the U.S though. But I grew up with Russian traditions, and Afghani foods. At the moment I'm getting ready to finish highschool and then head off to college hopefully somewhere in the Vancouver/Seattle area, so you could call me a traveller :]

hello... umm.. I'm a Filipino and I currently live here in the west coast for about 4 months so yeah, it's really hard for me because I still don't have any friends here and I always freeze when somebody's talking to me because... I don't know... I think I'm not very good in speaking English and sometimes I can't understand the accents... so there... I hope to have lots of friends in here.. :)

take care everyone. :)
I just want to have friends.
is that too much to ask for?
