Re: Languages!
1. Bulgarian (My mother language. Know it perfectly.)
2. English (Somewhat fluent- studied it so much time and now I use it more frequently than Bulgarian.)
3. Russian (I can understand it almost perfectly, but just don't make me talk. XD )
4. Japanese (I understand quite a lot of it-but I wish I could study it more professional.)
5. Cat-ish (I often talk to my cat, she speaks back, but I have no idea what we're both talking about. XD)

Re: Languages!
Ah, yes- of course. Spamming now wouldn't be good. ^^
So for the sake of staying on topic I'll say that I'm really curious about the so called "dead languages" I'd love to learn a couple of those!!! Seems quite pointless because you can't communicate with people, but that's one more reason for me to be more interested in them.

Re: Languages!
Wow, I feel strangely inadequate here, mastering only one language like I have.
American English(My mother tongue, My father tongue too.)
Japanese(Not fluently. I still need to build my vocabulary, although I am getting better. I've self studied for 5 years[Sort of. 5 years ago is about when I started watching anime with subs. XP I AM studying it now though], and I am just getting the hang of it. Don't ask me to read Kanji though.)
Chinese(I know 3 phrases)
Arabic(Same three phrases that I know in Chinese. I have tried to learn these phrases in all the major languages that I may come across.)
German(I know more than those 3 phrases, and can understand a bit if someone is speaking to me)
Russian(Same 3 phrases)
Italian(1 phrase, 2 words.)
I think that is it. Basically, if I get into trouble in almost(Emphasis on almost) any corner of the world I can say yes, no, and sorry. lol

Re: Languages!
1) English - currently my main language, although I'm not a native speaker.
2) Japanese - was one of my majors in university, but I mostly learned it on my own. It took lots of time and effort.
3) Chinese (Mandarin) - was one of my majors in university, but I neglected it since I was spending all my time on Japanese. I've been living in Taiwan for a year now, re-learning it properly.
4) my two "native" languages (but I haven't been using those for a long time)
5) German - got some exposure to it in my grandmother's household and later had to learn a bit of it in high school (3 years of 2 hours / week I think). Can't speak a word of it any more, but I still understand some random phrases, simple cookie recipes and such.
6A) Latin - almost gone by now, even though I was learning it for 6 years in school.
6B) Classical Chinese - never learned it properly in the first place, although I somehow managed to pass the beginner level exam... maybe I should study it on my own when I have time, I loved those stories.
Languages I'd like to learn but probably never will:
Cantonese
Korean

Re: Languages!
I can only read, speak and write two languages fluently:
> Portuguese (my mother language)
> English (learned it at school since the 5th grade)
Thanks to Portuguese I can somewhat understand Spanish and Italian because many words are similar .
It's so cool that many users here understand so many languages.

Re: Languages!
That's interesting we were studying a poem that had phrases in GujaratiIonicMomo wrote:Wow, I'm impressed. Everyone here speaks many languages! Despite being trilingual (sort of), I feel rather inadequate.
1. English (Canadian, then American) - while not technically my first language, it's probably my best, which is why I put it first.
2. Spanish - But I've forgotten a lot since I don't use it much anymore.
3. Gujarati - My first language, but I can only speak it (I'm illiterate).
My Languages:
1. English (I was born in the UK and I am English)
2. French (Only know what I am learning at school)
I'd like to learn: Swedish, Spanish

Re: Languages!
O_O Daaaang some you guys know a lot of languages. Kudos.
1. English (It's Canadian English, but word grey continues to haunt every fiber of my being.)
2. French (I've been in French Immersion all my life. I can speak and write in it pretty well.)

Re: Languages!
1.) Tagalog - Filipino Dialect and my native tongue.
2.) English - Managed to master it thanks to my mom and teachers.
3.) Spanish - My grandfather is half-Spanish and he thought me a few things.
4.) Japanese - I know a few words and basic sentences. (Got it from my aunt's book.)
5.) Korean - Again, only a few, and I only managed to learn bits of it thanks to my classmate.
errr - Does sarcasm count? Cause I'm adding that for six.
So, the first two are the ones that I have mastered, hope I could master the others.

Re: Languages!
English (Native Speaker, both the Queens English and American English; I have a lot of friends over in Britain.)
Spanish (Advanced speaker, but nowhere near fluent. I just have a lot of Latino/Latina friends so I learn through osmosis)
Catenese (Fluent. It is a very complicated cat language that takes years to master. My cat Dixie was an excellent teacher though. She said I was her best student )
