Re: Languages!
1. German (Native)
2. English (wohoo, spend 9 school years learning it o.O (just realized))
3. Latin (5 years, but like nearly everyone... let's not talk to much about the results... xD)
In fact I wish I had learned more languages, like french or spain, but at least I can understand some italian words because of latin. -_-
Oh, and of course I'm "learning" japanese through watching subbed animes!

Re: Languages!
=3= I stare in jealousy at those who have Japanese listed in their list. I started learning hiragana myself and got distracted already after the first few characters ...orz.
Somehow, people here are really well-versed in quite a number of languages :3

Re: Languages!
- German to everyone's surprise.
- English, 10 years in school. I'm much better in reading comprehension.
- Latin, 6 years. I barely remember a word.
- Japanese, since a bit over a year. My university is so kind to provide courses for it. I'm just shy of JLPT 5. Sounds better than complete beginner, doesn't it?

Re: Languages!
Well compared to most members, I don't know much languages, but I have some great domain in these:
1) Portuguese - That's my native language
2) English - I Have learned through school and on my own, I can read well, but sometimes I have some difficulty to write ( can't remember how to write the words) and to speak.

Re: Languages!
Well...
1) Bulgarian - my native language.
2) English - studied since forever, recently got a certificate in proficiency (Cambridge ESOL?).
3) German - study it in school. Pretty decent, have some difficulties with speaking, otherwise fine.
4) Russian - can understand written text and speech, so-so at writing, and speaking.... Fail. xD

Re: Languages!
I can speak:
1. English
2. German (not the best at all, I've been learning it for 3 years at school).
Various phrases in French, Japanese, Spanish, and Italian. (After being stuck there, last year because of the Iceland Ashcloud, I don't think I'll ever forget how to say Parla Inglese? - I think thats how you spell it.)

Re: Languages!
I'm fluent in English, Japanese and Chinese >< Not that I'm good at expressing myself in any of those, though...

Meh. I don't really read Hiragana or any form of Japanese handwriting, I can only talk or listen.
But I don't really know enough to hold a very lengthy conversation. My Japanese friend even told me that I talk like his five year old little brother when we tried talking in Japanese. T_T

Re: Languages!
Some people know soooo many languages o.o Wow.
For me, it's English (native), Japanese (stuck at JLPT level 2, trying to move up to 1), some French, some Italian, and some random words/phrases in Greek.
I have a hard enough time just retaining both English and Japanese in my head... I think I'm too old to pick up a new language and learn it to a fluent level.

Re: Languages!
1. Teochew (chinese dialect) - although my native tongue, kinda forgot lots of words (and that owes me dark stares everytime) since I only use it with my parents.
2. French - the tongue I speak everyday
3. English - studied at school, quite fluent
4. German - studied at school, nearly forgot everything, can only remember some words
5. Chinese, Mandarin - studied during middle school, forgot everything but a few ideograms, and surprisingly, remember the old pinyin syllab alphabet (but it's useless now)
6. Japanese - studied at university, quite fluent (very useful for games, movies and anime)
I'm currently hesitating between studying Swedish or arabic. I just love these language tones, accents and "melodies". But the downside would be that I forget one tongue I already master, my brain would kinda explode in the process.
I remember one day, I had to be the inteerpret between my german Kusine and my japanese itoko.
It felt kinda awkward when I spoke to the japanese one in german instead of japanese
