What would it look like if you scaled down and cropped the fullscreen background? It might look different enough to draw attention, while at the same time keeping the enemy in the current environment.

Ha, I tried that today. While for some BG was working, for others like this "staircase" was still not different enough. So I followed most people's advice and made all enemies with a JPG. Also because of performance reasons... all those transparent .PNG takes lots of space

So I've been looking through the thread and am pretty interesting in your new game, Jack. I really liked Planet Stronghold myself so I'm all for a RPG romance. And I think clean/explicit options is the way to go, seeing as overly sexualized characters can sometimes be a turnoff. But I'm one of those difficult gamers that wants a middle ground . I want to play on the mature setting, but I'm more of a less is more type of gal when it comes to showing skin. Maybe clothing could be it's own setting? Basically I'd want to play with the clean version sprites and still have full access to the naughty bits of my romance path.

The enemy CG look great with the backgrounds. Much more complete than the sprite on a transparent background. Really like the two-headed troll with one head looking quizzically and a bat

Well there's no different clothing options, sorry. I couldn't make it even if I wanted since the artist no longer work for me. I don't think you see anything special though, nothing you can't see going on the seaside or your local swimming pool
If you mean the final scene you can skip the romance CG, since they're quite hot, and just read the romance. We're also considering showing only the zoomed in portrait of the couple kissing but not the rest (in the images that's possible to do that).

in this new video you see the map (with all the locations shown, but at the beginning you won't see them), a random encounter, the battle with goblins (my character were early level so no special skills are used) and the victory/level up screen. Progresses have been good, in the past week with the help of Anima added working vendor, quests, potions usable by thieves (so they're useful at low level too!), and lots of other gameplay tweaks.
Aleema is also doing an excellent job finishing the romance scenes and expansion/last chapter texts I think I'll be able to release the first public beta mid-February.

Really?? Will it be the 1st chapter or the complete game?

Sorry saw your question only now I am uploading the game right now, sadly it's not even the whole 1st chapter since the game is LOOOONG. It's just a beta demo, to make sure the game runs ok on most computers and so that people know what to expect. I plan to finish the 1st chapter and start the pre-orders the 1st March!

It was an odyssey but finally managed to upload the beta demo:

it's just a demo meaning that you cannot yet buy the full game, will start the pre-orders 1st march when I have some more content in the game (at least the whole 1st chapter finished). Let me know if works or if you have any problem.

p.s. a weird thing was that using software cursor the game was running VERY slowly, but now that switched back to the HW one I noticed a big improvement
