FaTEd: A Science Fiction VN Adventure

#1 Post by SuperLexxx » Thu Aug 11, 2011 11:31 pm

Hello, everyone! ^_^ I'm Lexi and I have a project in the works! Yay!
I am new to making VNs and the like and have started trying to learn Ren'py. This whole project will be a bit of a learning process, so I hope you'll be patient with me! \o/

Summary:
A mysterious woman who is destined to die without intervention. A young man searching for his lost love. Different people, different journeys, but all fated to be part of the same story. Who are they and where does their future lie? Only you can save them.

---

FaTEd is mostly sci-fi with a bit of the paranormal and a touch of romance. Yes, the capitalized TE does mean something, but it's a spoiler so I can't tell!

Characters:

Alex-A young man on a search that will take him to places he never imagined.

Image
Evelyn-A mysterious woman in grave danger.

Jenna-Alex's missing girlfriend whose life could end in tragedy or hope.

~More characters to come!~
---

There's just a bit of an introduction. I don't have much done yet, but I am working on a script and learning how to do some of the easy coding. ^_^ Wish me luck!

TE?....The End?
I like the short and sweet summary. This isn't a new plot since it's been used before. However, it's always nice to see how this type of story plays out because it's never written the same. That is something I like. So, I really would like to see how the story ends for the woman who's life is destined for unavoidable death. Will she avoid it miraculously or have that inevitable death? If she does avoid it, how does she do it ^^ That's something I'll be pondering on. I can't wait to find out if it does happen or not.

Will this game be played by one of those two characters, or is this a third person narrative? The sprite is really nice. Are you the only one on the team?

Hehe, nope. =) The solution to that and the stuff with the woman all has to do with the science fiction elements.

The game will, hopefully, be played by more than one character. My plan is that it will be split up into chapters or arcs, and each arc will have a different protagonist. I don't know how difficult the coding for that might be, but I'm hoping it won't be impossible.

And thanks. =) It's not really a well done sprite, since I'm still figuring out what size and resolution to draw the characters. I'll probably update it later. And yes, this is a solo project. I'm embarking on this by myself. ^_^ If people want to help out, I won't mind.

Hmm...then I admit I don't know what 'TE' stands for.

No, the coding should not be a problem for the different protagonist arcs/chapters. There will be lots of coding, but nothing too difficult to figure out. Will they be intertwined with your previous decisions in the other character stories?

Wow, a one-woman-show. Is this character a WIP? It would be lovely if it was given shadows and highlights =]

Since you can do your own art, and have a pretty interesting idea, I think you're off to a good start and wish you luck! The coding is never the biggest challenge with Ren'py.

Persistence is.. :P

Haha, yes, she's just a WIP. I drew her up so I would have something at least a little substantial to post here. ^_^

In the best case scenario, yes the stories will be intertwined with previous decisions. I would like for the actions of all the protagonists to make an impact in the final chapter. A large part of the story hinges on the characters using a computer, so I'm hoping to make the computer parts really interactive. That will probably take waaay more coding than what I can learn straight away, so right now I'll just be working on character interactions and basic dialogue choices.

Oooh. Make more, make more! I want to see some more pretty art =D

Wow, that is very complex. Are you referring to the the computers that the players use or the in game computers that the players use right no? 0___0 If you are working on the menus and dialogue, does that mean you are incorporate the computer later? I'm just curious.
