In theory - you are almost always breaking the copyright. There are exceptions here - parodies, things that are considered "fair use" and "derivative work" (where things get really complicated).
Practically - for non-commercial project, the law is the same... But, the copyright holders don't bother to pursue non-commercial infringers. They would have a very hard time proving you caused them any damages.
What I meant with "The Players" was the graphics text in the first post. I missed the "P" (thinking it's some fancy "L"). With "a" to "o" and "y" as "v" - it can be read as "The Lovers". But since it's a dating game, it still makes sense...
