[ Loosely based upon a true story]
"I was sixteen when I married you."
"You were a full nine years older than me."
"Back then, the age difference wasn't a big deal. We were engaged to be married by our parents."
"When I met you, I was determined to hate you."
"Funny how things worked out."
"Hey."
"I'll be waiting right here, okay?"
"So, just keep your promise to me."
"Come back soon..."
Setting: 1950's Vietnam
Plot: Linh Phạm was only sixteen when she was married. She met her husband, Quang Ngô, only a week before they were married. But that was enough time for them to find love. For four years, they lived in blissful matrimony, bearing two sons and a daughter.
Like a sudden force, the world was swept up in a furor at the announcement of the Vietnam War. Quang's decision to join the war left a hole in Linh's heart. He promised her that he would return and she patiently waited at home for her husband to return. The years go on and on.
At times, she grew weary.
At times, she grew heartsick.
At times, she grew hopeless.
And through these times, she looked to her children and her husband's promise for support. There was famine, there was disease, there was pain. But she went on and on.
She waited year after year and stayed strong...

I literally had this idea just moments ago and decided to write it out. I'm personally half-Vietnamese and this story is based on the bits and pieces of my grandparent's story that I heard when I visited Vietnam. I guess I decided to consider making this into a little NVL style kinetic novel. The Vietnam War will play a central piece in the story, until it's end in 1975. So this story will span across the time of 25 years. If I'm going to do this, I want to do it well because it's a piece of history for my family.

I suppose I'm looking for feedback on your opinions.
(I feel stupid now, because this is sort of a fourth project I'm working on, even though I haven't finished anything else yet. Ahaha, getting too far ahead of myself...)
As always, the title is not definite. I'm horrible at picking out names anyways :p
I've never seen many historical visual novels so I hope I'll do a good job with this.
I've got a lot of photographs of the village my grandparents lived in. Not much has changed, with the exception of how the houses are built, but even then, if you were to walk around, you'd still find a lot of huts and shacks around the neighborhood. So plenty of references. I don't think there'll be any sprites, mostly backgrounds and a few CG. I might end up making everything using pastels, seeing as how I'm not too bad with those

The characters will be based off incredibly old pictures of my grandparents
