With the word count at over 19,000 and the intro of deadlyS7NS nearing it's finish, I'm almost ready to start working on art aspects for the demo.

The demo will include the finished version of the Intro. You can meet and opt to date any of the available guys, but you won't be able to launch their paths-- that's for the full game! Instead, you can see what options are available and learn how to win the heart of the guy you'd most like to see more of.

This means I need backgrounds, music, coding and sprites. I have the sprites and background sketches under control, but I am at a complete loss on how to finish up the backgrounds and have no musical prowess. I had a coder, but he seems to have vanished.

If you'd like to help or know someone who can, by all means, let me know.

So I don't have very many updates, but I got tired of watching this drift down the board. To be honest, we hit a bit of a snag in production, but writing has resumed today. I'm hoping to get at least the script for the demo out of the way before midnight on the 31st. Come November, I'll be participating in NaNoWriMo and this project will take a back seat to that, unfortunately.

But onto the updates:

--It seems I have lost my coder and am looking for a replacement if anyone would be interested.
--The word count is close to 20,500 so far, for the demo/intro alone.
--This game has been officially rated as Mature and I need to look into getting the thread moved/starting a new one.
--Umm... BOYS.

If you have any comments/questions/feedback, I would REALLY appreciate it. I'm still kind of in the dark over the general consensus/popularity of this project.

Hmn... well... To be honest, I did look at this thread earlier this month. However, I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. I haven't replied because... well, I wasn't sure what to reply with after reading what I did.

I love the concept and the idea of a BxB dating sim is always good with me, and I don't mind things like incest as much as some people do... but there was just so much information and so many characters that I wasn't sure what to do with it all. I wasn't sure I liked having that much information, actually.

For example, we know this is a BxB game. But the genders of all the love interests are still listed as male anyway. I love that we know their personality type, weight, and height, but this information bogs them down a bit and knowing their personality in one word made it seem like learning about that ourselves wasn't important. And, unfortunately, it made me worry if they may be fitted stereotypes.

I am interested in the game, but the introductory post sort of intimidated me into being quiet. Mostly, I was confused.

Thanks for the feedback~

I'm used to writing books and profiles for characters, so I wasn't sure how much information was needed. A lot of it was there to help you picture the characters since I don't have any art for this yet. I like knowing how tall people are and the weight lets me know their body type.

As for the single words: These characters are OLD characters of mine. Tried and tried again for about... seven years now? The single word personality thing was something I picked up from an old role playing site where people had the single word personalities in their signatures just to give you an idea of the person you were dealing with. Almost like telling you what 'trope' they fit into. For a lot of the characters I had a hard time thinking of a word for them. Others (like Faux) have running jokes about them fitting a stereotype. Faux is all work and no play. Randy often calls him things like "Mister Srsbsns" so I thought I'd add those. Where as people like Wulf, Donovan, Caleb and Zephyr... I had to just flail around for a word.

A lot of yaoi/bxb things have characters that are considered things like "the cute one" or "the super dominant one" and I guess the one-word personalities were my way of being like "this is what you have to choose from".

Ah, alright, I see where you're coming from then. I do the same sort of thing with my private character bios, actually!

Generally speaking, I think that all potential players really need to know about characters before getting to know them in game is the basics. Just enough to give us their basic personality but not enough to just outright tell us what they are like completely. Then again, I am heavy on the "not knowing everything" aspect of development threads. I don't want to know everything, I want a lot of stuff to be hidden from me or hinted at.

Some people are definitely going to disagree with me and probably wonder why I think this way. But, eh, that's just how things work in my head.

Though, now that I have replied, I suppose I'll be replying to this thread more often.

I'd appreciate it. I'm one of those people that thrives off of feedback. Without it, I feel like I'm doing everything wrong and nobody cares...

There is still a LOT you don't know about the characters through these profiles and this game is very long with a lot to learn, so trust me, that's just the surface of most of them.

Well that's great to hear! I can't wait to see what else we learn about these characters.

Even if no one else replies, you can always look at the view count for a quick boost? At the very least you know people are coming into the thread and, hopefully, reading what you post instead of ignoring it and clicking "mark topics read" after all.
