Crusade [Adventure][Sci-fi][Non-romantic]

#1 Post by Xenocartographer » Tue Jan 15, 2013 1:12 am

The whole concept of the universe is wrong.

If you say "the universe", people think of a single and unique entity, containing everything. But that's not really how it is. There are about a dozen universes, and not only that, but there are several copies of each. There used to be more, but a few of them ended a while ago. Each universe eventually develops a planet with intelligent life, and that planet attracts the interest of the Crusade.

It's really a shame I can't say too much about the Crusade without spoiling things for you; it's really quite fascinating. But I'll say what I can. Imagine a ship the size of the sun, carrying technology akin to magic. Each version of each universe has its own Crusade. And when it finds life, it will head to it, promising an end to all woes.

Don't believe it. The Crusade is a liar and a deceiver, a manipulator and a conniver, and generally not to be trusted. If it gets within range of its goal, it will utterly annihilate it and feast on the energy released, until another planet evolves life, and the cycle continues. One's already heading towards your world.

It's up to you to destroy it.
Crusade is a story I've been concepting for a while; at present I'm on page seven of my outline. I haven't started actual scripting or anything yet, and I don't have any art assets because I'm nowhere near good enough to do art for this, but I definitely have a lot of planning done at least. Before I go any further, I just wanted to get some feedback on the idea, and possibly generate some interest in it. It's about the various versions of the Crusade, a world-eating starship that exists in every version of the universe. People from various planets get drawn into a cosmic struggle against it. Want to try saving reality with nothing but your wits and a team of ordinary people? Then this is the game for you.

Planned features:
Fight aboard the Crusade
The main characters end up physically on the Crusade. Initially convinced of its good intentions, they quickly realize its true mission, and get drawn up into an interdimensional quest to stop it .

Lead a huge cast of heroes
There are upwards of a dozen main characters planned. Not all of them will make it.

Discover other worlds
Three alien worlds, Jaltra, Keatha, and Psidowen, all factor heavily into the storyline. Characters from these planets are among the heroes.

Figure out a complex, twisty plot
There's only one good ending, but there are many ways to get to it, and many ways to screw up. You'll have to think carefully if you don't want to doom reality.
So anyway, if you have any thoughts, questions, or feedback, please let me know!

....Many universes? Are you talking about parallel worlds/universes? Or you mean it differently?

And Crusade sound like a reaper from mass effect.

And about different world, I hope that in all of them won't be humans or beings close to human looks, if we are talking about
until another planet evolves life, and the cycle continues.
then life forms should be as far as humans can, be! I hate when many aliens or other being are so human like.

If you need help in thinking out of "aliens that look like humans loop", that is so.... out of date, old.
Then here are "help", films that in my view were fantastic and interesting. And by films I mean documentary films based on theory....not actions fantasy films... that are full with human like aliens...

http://www.1channel.ch/watch-9989-The-Future-Is-Wild about earth animal evolution if humans went extinct

P.S. thank about helping me remember all the good films,I'm re-watching them now ;3

Ooooh, this looks nice! And you could always use a break from romance (I mostly play fantasy and romance) and all for those complex plots! ^-^ And I like that universe concept (UNIVERSES not universe, dammit myself XD), and all that explaination on it. Even if it kinda does sound a bit like Mass effect, but you'll definitely do better endings, so I'm not bothered XD. Besides, you have plot twists, the whole story can change any time! But by the way, why would I take action now to destroy the crusade? It was there before, so why now? Why me? Why did I suddenly want to destroy them? Is it my job? Revenge? It would be nice to at least tell us a little about who we'll be playing as, or maybe if it's supposed to be "You", the player, I understand, but there still needs to be a reason. I'm not that much into sci-fi (I only know about Mass effect cause my brother played that game, and told me all about it, to my annoyance XD), but I kinda got curious, and you seem to have a solid concept of the surroundings of this game. So I'll play it if you make it a visual novel.
Good Luck! ^-^

Parallel worlds, yes.
And Crusade sound like a reaper from mass effect.
I've never actually played Mass Effect...
And about different world, I hope that in all of them won't be humans or beings close to human looks [...]
The aliens you will encounter will be quite alien. They look roughly humanoid, because imo it's hard to relate to things that look too unlike humans, but otherwise they're very different. Here's some info:
Keatha is perhaps the most alien; the Keathans have two minds per body, which are both effectively separate people. They use radio waves to communicate rather than speech, and are very asocial; usually each pair has a single other pair they're friends with, and otherwise keep to themselves entirely. Jaltra is basically a planet of kids, but they have some very dark/creepy customs. I'm not going to release info on the third planet, Psidowen, because that's huge spoilers.
@Above: When I said "you", I meant the player. I'll clarify that in the OP. Regardless, your motivation to destroy the Crusades is that you find out their true intention (and fairly early on).
