This post is probably more suited for general discussion or something than 'ideas' but: have you made sure you avatar is no bigger than 140(w)x200(h)? If it is, resize it to those dimensions or smaller and give it another go.

This goes into "Ren'Py Questions and Announcements" but

is your size correct? Did you re-size the pix or the Icons format? Is it SAVED in the same File name? With the same Extension?
