Angelic Orbs

I have been wanting to try and write a VN for some time, but since I already know how I tend to start up projects that never finish I have hesitated to do so.... So to try and increase the chance of success, I have decided to write it based on my characters from my online comic Angelic Orbs - I already know these characters so well, and love to write about them, so that should help me along. Don't worry, no knowledge about the comic and its story is necessary.

Angelic Orbs: Glass Wings

Based on the online comic Angelic Orbs. (Previous knowledge of the comic not necessary).
3 main heroines - Tia, Yoko, Zyra

Story:
You play as Kevin, whose life is changed one day with a chance meeting with a demon hunting for a glass orb. Running for his life he ends up in the nearby town, where he has another encounter with a strange group of people also on the look for this strange glass orb. Soon he is dragged along unwillingly, and may even have to choose what side in this hunt he wishes to take.
(I’m not very good at writing summaries… but something like that)

Don’t expect a story with a strong main character that has to save all the girls – more like the other way around ^^;


Characters:
Tia
A strange and moody girl leading the small group in the search for the orbs.

Kiyoshi
The main character of the original comic. Follows along with Tia and co. A very absent-minded person.

Yoko
A warrior girl, following along with Tia as well. Has her own goals, very independent.

Zyra:
A strange woman with black wings who always seems to somewhere be around Tias group. It's unknown what her goals are.

beautiful sketch! Looks like professional concept art. This sounds like a good idea. "Other Age" was a dating sim based on characters from other works (online games) and it worked. So I think something from another source is definitely feasible.

Just to show that this project is still alive:



I'm almost done writing the first route, having some trouble with the final scene. Oh, and the number of main girls is 3 now.
I'll wait working seriously on the art until most of the script is done, so until now I only have a few sprites of the above girl (Tia).
Almost all of the backgrounds are ready though - good thing that I live in an area that matches the story well

So yeah.... just wanted to show that work is being done still, if anybody's interested.

Slow and Steady is also a way to go.

Don't be ever ashamed when there's a similar sized and scaled game which was made faster than yours.

Just get that first game out the way you want it.

Sorry about all the lame updates.... anyway, I just edited the first post so that it shows actual information about the game, instead of my useless scribbles I think I'll update with more characters on that list in time, as I get more sprites done. (I could use pictures from my comic, but they're too old... lol)

Status:
First route almost done, needs some fixes with the ending. Second route coming along fine.
About 15.500 words so far.
9 characters, sprites done for 3
CG’s – 0%
BG – about 80% ?

Excellent! That's good progress to have made, to have one route nearly finished. Keep it up!
(Personally, I can't wait to see the Yoko sprites XD She looks like just my kind of character...)

Another small update.

2 of the 3 routes (or is it paths? What should I call it?) are now done, and about a third of the last is also written. I still need to write a certain flash-back scene that appears in all three routes, it's giving me a hard time >_<
I also think the last one (Zyra's) is going to be the trickiest one, since it will be very different from the other two. Maybe even a bit longer.

I wondered if I should make it a sort of special route, like the ones you can only play after you finished the other two. But Zyra's route is the "hardest" one to get anyway, so maybe that isn't necessary.

Oh, and I have even finished the lineart for 3 CG's now. I'm trying to hold off on doing the art until the script is done, though. The way I colour the art is also going to differ a bit from what you have seen on the Tia sprite - I have found an easier and better-looking way to do it now.

You mentioned you found a way to make the coloring easier...would those of us that aren't artists tell there's a definite difference?

Something about Yoko says *Mess with me and pay the price!!!*...maybe her stance?
