My Son's idea...

For any of you that have kids, this should make complete sense...

My 9 year old has discovered that he really loves to read - and draw. Not a bad thing I know...
Just as any tortuous father would do, I introduced him to Manga books and Visual Novels. What comes next I didnt expect - he found RenPy on his own...

Now he wants me to help him make a VN... Cool...

I had a few images on my hard drive that havent been archived off yet from my camera and let him poke around them to find some backgrounds he would like to use. - 20 - ... That evening he started playing with Chibi maker to make a bunch of random characters. Naming each one.

He gives them all to me and tell me to make a VN for him... Make it for him... I thought you were going to make it with my help. No I want you to tell me a story using these characters...

So it has begun.

I have 30 images and a budding story line to go with it. I have no idea where it is going to go in the end but Im 4 scenes in and he is chomping at the bit for me to finish it. I hope to have it completed today - for good or bad.

Son to Dad to Complete (hopefully) in 36 hours. This is going to be laughable...

I know this might be a bad comparison, but I remember asking my parents for extensive help on at least one school assignment. (This happened in the early '90s, before I or most other people had home computers or internet access.) Anyway, good luck piecing together a story with the diverse images.

Thanks, I am actually have a ton of fun doing this. It has been a long time since I've worked with RenPy and getting back into it has sparked the writing juices!!!

Today, I took a few moments to reshoot some of the streets I walk to and from in downtown Houston - just for his idea.

Oh yea, he has magic in the story now. Ugggg. Now I have a little girl that wants the Rare Valley Flower for her magic spell... I'm not real sure at the moment how I am going to work that in, but Ill think of something.
