This game looks absolutely gorgeous! The sprites, backgrounds, the GUI, everything! The programming is quite ambicious, but it would be amazing if it were made true, and I hope it will. For projects like this, you might as well take it slow to make sure it works as well as it should. Mysteries also take a more compelling story to keep the player interested, so I hope that would work out as well, as I said before, it's better to take it slow. I'm saying this because I think this has good potential to be an amazing game, and I really hope that it gets finished. At least I will wait for this as long as it takes ^^.

Thank you all so much for you compliments and encouraging words! They really mean a lot to me.

I will change the text in the dialogue box, as many of you have suggested. It wasn't working out for other reasons too, so I was already tempted to change it, but now I will for sure.

I'm not sure if I will, but I might consider it if I have the time. I am playing with the idea to make the CGs slightly animated too though. With light effects and little moving pieces.


The overal story will be told in 5 steps, as you unlock each area for a new key. You'll be able to take different characters with you when exploring, and they unlock relationship scenes and such. For each key and keyitem you collect you get clues to figure out the mystery.

So far what I've done this week:
Started colouring a CG (trying to figure out a faster method)
Mapped out 2 character routes in rough scheduals.
Put some parts of the mystery on paper (finally)
Made some beatsheets for the first couple of scenes (scene 1 and 2 are written out)
Worked on the world map.

And here the first draft of a minigame in Area 1

Cute minigame. Just a quick question what does the 'solve mysteries' and 'protect your home from evil' aspect involve?

You have to gather spirit power to be able to locate your Memory Keys, and you get that from helping out other people, that's where the solving mysteries and minigames come in. If you don't gather all of your Keys in time, someone else will and they will use them with the wrong intentions.

Oh the interactiveness sounds fun. The pressure of someone gathering keys before you makes it more interesting. But I suppose you can always cheat and re-load a save if you fail :p

The 4 companions that originate from the forest area Sendra:

Jure the Rogue, Belter the Mage, Taeius the Warrior and Menia the Student.
These are the characters you can form relationships with. They can help you on your quest in different ways.

I'm not sure if I'll add more companions, because they take a long time to implant, but I might if the demo works out.

I've decided to change the resolution to 1366 x 768, and I made a mock up for a new user interface, since I didn't like the other one much.
Plus I changed the logo, since the font I was using was a demo and not free/free for personal use. The overal look is way cleaner.

A preview of the world map and I also painted my first monster/creature. Middle-left. It still needs fixing, so I'm not going to show it in full, but I'm pretty satisfied with the result so far.

Not only you've got gorgeous art and graphics (I just love the small animations, I hope you implement them in game successfully), but the gameplay style seems so very nice. Congrats on your designing skills, even those mockups look amazing!
