Re: Unnamed [romance/drama] visual novel needs help with art
Umn... I haven't downloaded the batch file, but I viewed the text of it on mediafire, and I am confused. Why does it repeatably ping google.com at certain points? And at one of those points, the intro warns it might "freak out on slower computers"?
I'll be honest, I was suspicious about the fact that you released this as a batch file, and concerned it might execute some malicious commands, hence why I viewed the script online. I'm not totally sure if it does anything worse than ping google a bunch (for whatever reason), as I don't really know the Windows command interpreter very well, so you can bet there's no way in hell I'm actually downloading that thing and running it.
If I'm completely wrong and there's nothing malicious about the file and you have completely innocent and explainable reasons for the google pinging, then I apologize for my paranoia. I figure I can't be too careful though.
Anyways, assuming for the moment that I am just being paranoid...
Then first of all, welcome!
Secondly, sorry to hear about your comp dying and you losing progress, that really sucks. And that reminds me I really should backup my own files more often.
Thirdly, you should consider checking out the recruitment board, as that is really the proper place for asking for people to help out with art/etc. In addition, check out the Ren'Py Cookbook board for some helpful Ren'Py tutorials, and feel free to ask questions at Ren'Py Questions and Announcements.
Finally, you mention that you don't really know how it goes here, so you should make sure you familiarize yourself with the rules of the Lemma Soft Forums and the particular boards. At least glance at the FAQ, check for sticky threads that have specific rules, read the board descriptions, etc. It's all pretty simple stuff mostly, and it will make your experience smoother.

Check out the demo of Darling Shoujo Imoutohotep, my mummy VN. Cause haven't you always wanted to play a Pharaoh in love with his mummy little sister? Oh, you haven't always wanted that? Uh... well... if you check it out anyways, I'll be happy. (Cannot guarantee your happiness though).

Re: Unnamed [romance/drama] visual novel needs help with art
Do you want to write romance and drama? I'm asking this because there are many other kinds of stories. Lots of options exist other than boy x girl pairings with slice of life.
Going along with what Mad_scientist said, make sure that your file does not pose a risk to computers. Even if you don't have all of your art, check whether you still have your .rpy file(s). People can always look at your writing thus far in order to give feedback.
Real world amnesia is a serious problem. The type which usually appears in fiction? Rather different. (There's a TVTropes article about this called Easy Amnesia... but please be warned that the website can be a major time drain.)Kwikle wrote:...who gets amnesia (huge cliche, I know)...
There's nothing wrong with a "just friends" ending. This could be a viable option no matter what your main character's gender and sexuality are.Kwikle wrote:The person that he is closest to, he eventually starts dating (if its a male, you will get rerouted to one of the girls).

Re: Unnamed [romance/drama] visual novel needs help with art
Thanks to all your suggestions and advice, it really helps WIP visual novels take shape. Sorry, I forgot that it's a bad idea to release a batch file out on the internet...(Also, the pinging google thing, it is for a sort of timer because batch doesn't actually have one)
I know. I actually thought about that, and decided not to.There's nothing wrong with a "just friends" ending. This could be a viable option no matter what your main character's gender and sexuality are.
