Hey, that's pretty good! I like the careful texturing in particular...
One thing to note - the perspective on the bed/desk combo is excellent, but unfortunately the windowframe seems to be at a different angle; all things parallel in a scene should have the same vanishing point, so it looks like the crossbar of the window is set at an angle, tilting upwards to the right...
(As to the pillow... some of us prefer harder pillows (I had an aching neck for many years as a result of stooping over my desk painting miniature figures, and needed the support, for example) and those tend to keep their shape much like the one in this picture... so I wouldn't go so far as to call it 'cardboard'!

PdJ isn't dead. Really. Here's a small demo. So far it's only text and visuals. For me, the sound always comes last. That, and I haven't had access to a piano lately, so I haven't been able to do much composing. ^_^;;

Yay~! XD Awesome. I just played through it.
There are a few things that might need fixing:
* The first few lines in the game were missing commas but... I don't know whether it was intentional or not. I'm just mentioning it; in fact, I like those lines without commas. xD It's funnier.
* When Trian says, "I'm gonna be late to school." Shouldn't it be, "I'm gonna be late for school"?
* Transylvania is mispelled.
Also, Lydia offers food even after making a sandwich, and she says it's not good to go to school without lunch. Is that supposed to happen? ^^;

I really like this so far, characters especially! As expected, I love Kurara, and Aria is a rather interesting figure, but I like Maya and Trian more than I expected I would. Looks like it should be fun.
Also, caught a mistake: Toward the end, "I can hold of homework for a little bit." ...should be "off" instead of "of".

So for anyone wondering what the snet is going on with this...I took a slight break awhile back to work on writing scenario for Twilight. With that finished, I again turned my attentions to PdJ. However, last week my computer had a little um...issue and I wound up losing a hefty chunk of my files, including all my VN stuff. Thankfully, I don't have to go back to the beginning (since I posted the demo online), but I do have to go back to where the demo left off. Also, I lost my Photoshop files, so some of the sprites I was working on are gone for good. Frustrating, but now that it's summer I at least have more time to work on this. I hope I can finish in a month or so, but we'll see.
Also, if anyone is interested in doing some testing for this, I'll likely have a text-only version ready within a week or so and I would love some playtesters/editors to help me out.

You thought I was dead. Okay, so I sorta was. I went to Japan for awhile and when I got back, I got a new job with a two hour commute that keeps me from being able to spend much time on my hobbies (including working on my visual novel). In addition, my art (especially digital art) has improved quite a bit since I started this, and I'm now pretty unhappy with what I've done so far. So I've had to swallow my pride a bit and make a decision: I've added another person to my team. I was pretty happy being a koujin circle, but I don't have the time to do everything on my own, so please welcome Kiyoshi as the new character artist (and part-time musician). All the art for this game will be updated (character and backgrounds). Aria and Maya are receiving character makeovers. The story and code won't change too much, so this isn't an complete revamp, but there will be a lot of visual changes, and I won't be the only person writing music now. The cooking scenario will also be a bit different. It was really detailed and specific at first, but I feel like it puts too much of a halt in the story, so it's been simplified with bonus recipes to unlock instead of the full recipe showing up inside the game. Since it's NaNoWriMo, I've got a lot of motivation from my writer friends to write, so there's a good chance the writing will move along at a nice pace for awhile. Here are some samples of what the character art will look like now:

New screen. The character art isn't updated yet, but the background and the text box are new. I think it looks a little nicer, although the background still feels flat and a little too bright. Thoughts on fixing this?

That actually looks pretty nice. But I think that the white text is a bit hard to read against the bright background...
