First Project: Everything We Had

#1 Post by Dave the Twisted » Sat Apr 19, 2008 7:32 pm

Story: It's summer time and everyone just wants to have fun! A group of old friends come together and decide to take a trip to the beach houses. Out on the coast there are many things to do and places to go. Everyone has rented out the biggest beach house for the whole summer and are ready to let loose, confess to old school mysteries, current loves, and work out differences among them in their living quarters. Everyone has their own distinctive personality and everyone is ready to let it go and find themselves with the help of their friends. Ren Picardy, Izzy Montblanc, Kia Anderson, Soren Weiss and Hector Evans are all gathered at a beach house on Daytona Beach to have a summer worth remembering!

So, any of this sound interesting? I'll put up some screenshots once I can scan the characters... In this version, Ren Picardy is the main character, though future editions may have Hector or Soren as player characters.

For my next project I'm going to need a working toilet, a pair of pliers, a jar of cheez-whiz spread, 100 q-tips, a TV remote, a gearshift lever and a whole lot of duct tape. This is gonna be awesome.

If I can script it right, I'd like it to be a general "Get the Girl" game. Similar to Real Life: A Bishoujou Adventure. Something I'd like to play with is the two other male characters giving you hints about the girls' personalities and preferences so you can make better choices later.
For my next project I'm going to need a working toilet, a pair of pliers, a jar of cheez-whiz spread, 100 q-tips, a TV remote, a gearshift lever and a whole lot of duct tape. This is gonna be awesome.

"Old friends" getting together always has potential... the more interesting their shared pasts, the more interesting their interactions in the present :-)

Yes, I agree with Nafai. This could be a lot of fun.
I released 3 VNs, many moons ago: Elven Relations (IntRenAiMo 2007), When I Rule The World (NaNoRenO 2005), and Cloud Fairy (the Cute Light & Fluffy Project, 2009).
More recently I designed the board game Steam Works (published in 2015), available from a local gaming store near you!

Sounds interesting so far. I'll keep an eye on this for when you release more information. I especially like the names you've come up with; are there any other 'hidden' meanings in them besides the main character's?

Well, here's the original character art for Ren, the main character. (Note: Intentionally made to appear taken by a horrible camera.)

That was when my scanner was working... I'll see what I can do, other than that, things are progressing well.

The artwork is good enough, but the story intrigues me more.
Hope the beach is beau-ti-fuul!!!

I have decided to postpone all activity on the project until I solve graphics problems. If I continue without putting graphics in, it'll end up becoming a long and boring narrative...

You see what I had going was basically character art without a scanner to put them in. Got that taken care of. (At least until June...) But guess what? I actually got something done! Now I just need to know how to attach zip files to a post so I can upload the intro.
For my next project I'm going to need a working toilet, a pair of pliers, a jar of cheez-whiz spread, 100 q-tips, a TV remote, a gearshift lever and a whole lot of duct tape. This is gonna be awesome.
