Recruiting: visual novel in a Manhattan setting

#1 Post by Guest » Mon Oct 13, 2008 10:39 am

After playing RenAi Blogger and getting some seriously awesome info on NYC because of it, I got a few ideas about starting a visual novel set in Manhattan.

I'm thinking it'd have three mains, the user could either have an option to pick which character they'd want to play as (one very well-off, one white-collar kinda desk jockey, one hard worker - bike messenger, I'm thinking), and they've all got something they're trying to find out... the classic part is that the well-off guy wants to find out where it all went wrong, e.g. "This is not my beautiful house! This is not my beautiful wife!" and the others are trying to better themselves without knowing how. I've got plenty of angles that could work for this in terms of writing.

I have no art skills and I could maybe learn RenPy, but I'm not a coder/programmer and I'd definitely need help for this.

I plan to make this a well-researched visual novel - I work in the city and have no problem with going to take photos, talk to people in the roles we'd be writing for, do location scouting. I want to have a visual novel that can exude modern New York or even what people hope it to be.

Setting would be autumn into winter, age would be post-high school.

Anyone have any interest in this? I may not have across-the-board skills, but I can fund proper hosting, etc.
