I think it will be a nice project... go for it! also for graphics i think you could ask Labbit (since he\she (?) is looking to work as an artist for a Ren'ai game).

It's a little too late for me to put artwork in this chapter, but like I said, CH. 2 should have artwork.

I know some people don't consider them true ren'ai but they are FUNNY.

update on the game's status: finally got back to it, and I'm working on "Day 2" again. I'm also adding a few "Name-dependant" easter eggs and messages. (try using your forum name in the game, case sensitive. you'll get a few extra's.)

Neat idea. You can take that one step further and put certain extra's on certain usernames. Technically, everyone here can enter in each other's names without being the actual bearer of that name. :thinks about who the names will be...:

Although, you have to be very careful with insider jokes or bonuses. The random downloader won't know about much that's going on here. Although if that is only a bonus with no effect on the story, then go for it, we've seen certain people put certain things into certain games... Oh my, look at the time! Almost all of the name-based easter eggs do not affect the storyline at all. (the obvious ones will affect it, but the base story is still intact. I'm pretty sure you would have figured those one out. [if you haven't got a clue, try naming your character after somebody else when I release this game...] that's why I'm not revealing all the names in the game nor are they final. I may change some of them right before releasing the game to trip you up...)

(however, I've done a couple changes, and I'm setting it up so that ONE specific name, if held until the end of the game, will actually BYPASS the second password entry screen AND get the ACTUAL ending with a heck of a lot less effort. problem with trying this is, almost everyone who plays the game in one sitting (as well as numerous others) will lose that name AND get it replaced by the game with another name that disables that bypassing. how to avoid this will remain a secret until a while after the game is released... however, in all cases you still need to keep HP above zero, though. that's one thing I'm not changing!)

Also, I'm only going to Officially announce the release here, so we shouldn't have to worry too much about what mikey said... (of course, If I have too much spare time, I'll password the extra's and PM the guys that have extras [and a couple that don't] with the password... But it shouldn't have to come to that, should it?)

(I hope I'm not slipping any hidden hints in here... other than the note on the name-based easter eggs)

(spelling checked. one error found. "a" changed to "is" in "...after the game IS released")

well, I did some finetuning on the fighting (now you can't just mash the arrow keys all the time! you have to look at the screen!) and got farther on day two morning... still working on it... it might be done by the end of the school term... might be...

I'm still here and I'm still working on it... I'd say I've hit the 50% mark now... (unless I decide to go through with the battle system overhaul... then it's 45% done. If I do the system change, It's going to be a hell of a lot more complex than just pressing arrow keys. [can you say "mouse-drag techniques"?])

One of the things you should definitely not do ren'ai games for is popularity. There are lots of communities in which you have to work less to get respected more. On the other hand, people who make games like these usually love doing them, so it's not about competition or topic replies, but more about help.

What I wanted to say in that Mr.Knowitall paragraph is... Don't worry! people are checking every day (you can see it in the view count) and you can consider yourself happy - I remember this time around last year there was hardly a post in a WEEK! So, compared to that, this place is buzzing! :P

Do you think that I would let an OFFICIAL (keyword: OFFICIAL) thread for my game die? I think NOT (what would be ironic is if the project gets cut. then I've made a big [anal oruphus] of myself.)

I'm thinking around 9 normal endings [actually based on relationship status with two specific characters this time...], a couple special "game over" endings, and a few suprises... not to mention a completely new layout to incorperate images...)
