also, PyTom, I never asked... what OS are you using? Linux?
Well, I do most of my development of Ren'Py under Debian Linux (sid). Ren'Py games I tend to play under Linux, while other games get played under Windows 2000 running in a VMWare box.

I also have a powerpc emulator that is used to test Ren'Py under OSX. It's slow, but it gets the job done, at least until someone buys me a mac mini.

BTW, never got your email.

haven't been able to send said email... tomorrow, I'll try to send it. until then, go ahead test it on windows 2000 for me, please. I need to know whether something is completely screwed up and windows XP is the only OS it'll work on or not...

if you have Limewire, I have it up and running and I have the ActiveX control ready to be transferred. it'll be on overnight until about 5:30 US Central time... see 4 or 5 posts above for the filenames

Hmmm... Limewire... I've heard about it but have no clue how to use it. But I'm a strong man, so I will wait... help meeee...

Nah, just take your time. Fine tuning is a very sticky business, better do it right. Besides, the game is finished, so there's no danger of us not playing it (eventually), so hang in there. 8)

internet was under maintanence for a whole day, minus about five minutes in which I posted yesterday, so I'm back. PyTom, I should be getting that ActiveX control to you sometime today (I haven't forgotten about the issue with the progressbar yet!).

Mikey>>for limewire, install, set the settings up (do change the Downloads directory to something on the desktop for easier access), and use it as a file search engine (for zip files and other uncatagorized program files, use the "Program" tab. I.E. for the main game, use "Program>filename: Tales of Zeta.zip", and for the ActiveX control, same tab, filename: MSCOMCTL.zip). I use it for occasional material gathering (including instrumental versions of songs that I [or in some cases, Beta] want edited, such as Southern Hospitality.)

[P.S. I put LimeWire back online, so you can get at the files using it. PyTom, don't worry, I'm still gonna email the file to you. (and eclipse if she needs it)]

[edit: just sent the activeX control to PyTom... now if only the networking in the building would just stabilize. we've already reset it twice today!]

...and it's murder doing so! so many wires to check, and only after that can we switch the power off and back on (to the router and internet box, not to the whole building!)

don't get me started on floppies, either. I lost a good 14-page comp. programming assignment due to one part of the floppy being unreadable, and I don't particularly care to keep track of two copies of the same file.

I think the next windows is supposed to be "longhorn" or something like that... back-OT:

PyTom, how's ToZ's compatibility coming along? it working now? does the ActiveX control help? (sorry, I just feel like I need to know... it's my game, after all...)

I should update my sig. about now

The floppy drive should just be allowed to die.

It's complete folly to only have a file saved on a floppy anyway.

Buy a USB key.

school regulations: no usb drives allowed. (and my teacher wouldn't let me save it to the computer's hard drive. [however, one of the floppy disks worked long enough for me to get ToZ home so I could get it transfered to my computer. so they aren't completely useless... they're just obsolete nowadays...])

[also, TITAN CORP. could pull the plug on the school's computers for just about anything we (the students, not us at the forums) do. fortunately, that hasn't happened yet...]

so I've heard...
Megaman Z wrote:TOZ: [paging PyTom. PyTom report to the official thread, please. thank you]
I think that'll work... provided PyTom looks at the sig. and reads it...

(I think he's waiting for confirmation about the ActiveX control, but that's just me...)

Sorry... got the second email (finally), but haven't had a chance to try it. I've been building a NMEA to RS232 adaptor out of an old mouse and a length of cat-5 cable.

The goal of the project is to be able to automatically load coast guard search and rescue patterns into the GPS on my dad's boat.

Now I'm doing some Ren'Py work... I'll try it out later.

okay... you lost me around "NMEA to RS232"... WHAT THE HECK?!?

(well, at least we know you have the file... so now we're waiting on you... and for someone to figure out what's going on with our internet connection already. people in New Orleans are having problems with the internet as well...)

[FYI, I live in Florida... just in case you haven't figured it out yet... and no, I'm not proud about the recount record established in the... 2004 election year? which year was it again?]

still working on TOZ2 here and there, though the ren'ai RPG project is higher up on my priority list.

(PyTom, I'm pretty sure you have people [like me, mikey, at least one other person] waiting to see if TOZ works with that ActiveX control I supplied you with.)
