Gen'sou shrine

#1 Post by Aang »

Me and my friend are currently working on our first visual novel and I hope that people will like it.
So the story takes place in feudal japan in the year 1351. The main character, Ichirou Shigeru, is a ninja and he hust got a new mission. He needs to infiltrate and kill a retired shogun officer named Heihachi Mishima. But to get in the Gen'sou shrine, where the target lives, he needs to become a foreign nephew of his named Kazuki Mishima, that he last saw as a baby. Kazuki has been sent there to train with Heihachi, so he will be living there for a short period of time. In the shrine, Kazuki(Ichirou) meets Heihachi's four daughters:

Wow, that character art is really pretty! I love how glossy they are. xD
I love Japan's feudal era; the Sengoku period is so fascianting. I can already tell its going to be pseudo historically-accurate (wish it wasn't, but oh well) because of the way the the girls look, but don't bastardize the era just because you wanna write about ninjas or something. :p

That said, I wish you a big GOOD LUCK!

The line art looks like it was done on Paint.NET, which is an entirely different program from MS Paint.

It was done with paint, the free little program you get in the windows accessories.

Maybe, but they're definitely retouched. x__sinister has a point about the lines being too smooth.
It's really, really not that great of a program.

Unless he sat there and did the antialiasing pixel by pixel, then I don't believe it.
I don't believe it even more so because MSPaint only gives you, like, three undos.

If your artist actually drew those on MS Paint, then he just screwed you over. You know why? MS Paint doesn't support alpha channels! You can't use those sprites in your game!

The images are png with alpha
Also its obvious its not MS Paint as10x anti-aliasing is not humanly possible

It is paint, I confirm it, I was right beside him. Why the lines are smooth is because paint has a button that let's you curve the lines. After he finished with them on paint well we opened them on photoshop, we resized them and with saved them in png transparent files so that they work for the game.
