Ahhh. it's NOT OpenGL. I can't resize the window other than going into the Preferences Menu. I believe if it were, I should be able to resize the window right?

Yes exactly, you're in software rendering mode. Then, is normal to have such delays unfortunately :(

If you can post the opengl.txt, I can figure out why you're in software mode.

Okay. I found it. I opened it. All it says is "GL Disabled."

So, how do we enable OpenGL anyway? is it like a hardware issue, or can we download OpenGL drivers or ...?

Okay. I held Shift down as I started Planet Stronghold... and well the results were a lot different. Not sure why or how to enable OpenGL if I even can, although it looks like my netbook possibly can support OpenGL. Loading the text was a lot slower in the game after I hit shift btw. The tutorial I did find online didn't help much in trying to enable it.

Found a good artist to finally make proper battle backgrounds :) Soon you won't see anymore that horrible "temporary background" image. Below is a battle on the surface of Planet Stronghold, in the wastelands (well the robots probably won't be there, is just a test!).

Backgrounds! Yay! It's nice to see the environment now. It really sets up the atmosphere. Is the planet all wasteland? (Will we see a variety of backgrounds, I mean?)

Mostly yes, but there are some different zones like oasis and a cool crystal caverns maze (I'm really curious to see that one drawn).

So finally I resumed working on this game :)
I've just re-uploaded a new build. Everyone who wants to try needs to redownload this, the older version won't be able to update. Hopefully this time will be the last (and the autoupdater will work everywhere now).
I've made LOT of changes - read the text that appears after the autoupdate. I also plan to make autoupdating optional with a button, so you won't be forced to do that online check everytime.
For more info on new features/upcoming development, check my blog and follow twitter.

:D Definitely bigger and better ! I like the new characters
especially Lucille
, places and the three-person-battle is really enjoyable ! And it's quite challenging, even on easy mode
(the "five tests" will please hardcore gamers !)
!!! When my character was knocked out during one battle, his life bar still displayed a negative value. Everything else had been fixed and improved since last time :D .
Personally, I'd prefer
more experience points allowed for each battle, especially at the beginning of the game  after five difficult fights, I'm still a level 1 psionic !
And are we supposed to use our skill points in the demo ?

Hehe, I don't want to put too much XP in battles, but once you solve the quest (in the alpha for now you can't finish any) you get a boost of XP.
Yes you can use the skill points in that version, they shouldn't be reset in future updates. It's still an alpha so can't say that for sure 100%, but I hope I don't have to touch the level up screen anymore :D

I've just uploaded a new build with some more improvements (in particular you won't see that horrible temporary background anymore :D).
If you want to try it, you can start and the autopatcher should do the rest (hopefully).

Wow a month has already passed...! I made lots of improvements, and right now I'm making the last part of engine coding (then it should be almost only plot/quest writing and enemy encounters). I have made a nice add-on, you'll be able to explore the map in a grid-system, with random encounters:
Image
since you use a hovercraft, you'll be able to outrun enemies but up to a certain amount of times, then you'll have to get back to the base to refuel. Hopefully this is a good compromise for those who hates random encounter! 8)

Today I've taken a decision about the CGs and the endings:
http://www.winterwolves.net/blog/2010/1 ... in-a-crpg/
quoting from my blog:
make it possible to see them allfrom a certain point of the game.

For example, while each character relationship will influence how well he/she fights into the battle, at a certain point of the plot you will be able to save and from that point you can reach any possible romance ending, no matter what you’ve done before. That way at least player could have only to replay something like the last 2 chapters or so.
I don't think the "Gallery" approach of VNs/Dating Sims can work with a CRPG, since obviously replaying a CRPG (with battles) from scratch only to see a different ending image (even if is beautiful, and has voiceover and some will be very touchy, bla bla) probably is too much to ask to any player

.... tell that to us poor Dragon Age players doing the whole thing over from scratch to go through different romances (and origin stories)! :)

Of course, on replay, I am CHEATING LIKE CRAZY and only playing battles once in a rare while. Similarly, Brave Soul (hentai RPG) allows you to unlock super cheating powers after having beaten the game once, to make it easier to go through for alternate character paths.

This isn't to say you're wrong, just that it can be done. OTOH I think several of the big hentai RPGs either integrate all romances into a single story or have the only "decision" be really near the end so you don't have to backtrack that much to get it all.
