"Unseen" official thread

#1 Post by Taleweaver »

Yup, I'm nuts. Even though nothing but the script and the engine for "Foxtaile" is done yet, I've already started with a new VN project. I'm happy to announce that Kikered is with me again as director and programmer, and we need at least two more people for art and music. Before I start looking outside this forum, though, I'd like to invite everybody here who feels up to the challenge of creating a game in the coming six months to join us. (This invitation does NOT include eclipse and qq unless they are mad enough to work at two projects at once ^_^)

Artist requirements
- Create BOTH character and BG art. The scene setup requires the characters to be able to interact with the BG art, meaning they must be in scale with visible objects.
- 6+ characters, most with at least two styles of clothing, with a full range of emotional expressions each.
- Around 10 BG locations, about half of them with alternating day/night mood

Musician requirements
- Around ten pieces of music in different moods - details are provided. Each piece should be around 2 min and "loopable".

Any applications?

I wouldn't class you as nuts, just "driven". ;)

lol If you think two projects at once is mad, then I guess I'm off the charts mad.... ^^;

After Foxtaile, I don't think I will be doing any team projects until Love Revo: FH is complete. So everyone can count me out of participating in teams for awhile. 'Sides, my own ren'ai games are clammoring inside my head to be done and Shadowfall is no exception (ahhh, this will be the best one yet! ^______^ )

Looking forward to your next projects very much, eclipse, especially with a mysterious title as "Shadowfall".

So, anyone here volunteering for "Unseen"?

The artist part does sound good. I'm pretty good at drawing characters and I can draw good backgrounds. I have a few questions such as the number of male and female characters, what kind of personalities do they have, and the ages of the characters. Also you guys should know I draw on paper and would probably need some type of help if you use a computer program for your projects(Tell me what kind you use). Hopefully it would be simple for me do this if that is needed.

I'd recommend you to get a scanner so that you can transfer your hand-drawn works to your PC. After that, software such as Photoshop or GIMP will help you with editing and coloring. I'm pretty sure eclipse, Py'Tom and BlueLemma can all give you some hints on getting started.

Also, welcome on the team. I'll send you information on the characters via PM.

Which version of Photoshop should I use(I might buy that if GIMP doesn't work) I tried to download GIMP but it's not working on my computer. Maybe I should use an older version since I'm on a computer that uses Windows98. If anyone knows please reply.

Where did you download the Gimp from? Some releases require you to download and install the Gtk+ libraries first.

Six characters seems to be quite a number, you sure 10 backgrounds (even though varying) will be enough? Depends on the size of the game of course (I have no idea). 6 characters is more or less full-scale, unless there is a good system behind it, like Kykuit that allows the game to be shorter. Good luck nevertheless in managing it all, I can say I also have more projects in mind, but working simultaneously on them is something I still shy away from. So hopefully you'll be able to find reliable people, that's more or less the key.

I download GIMP from GIMP.org. When I try open GIMP2 there's an error starting the program. The LIBGLIB-2.0-0.DLL file is linked to missing export INTL.DLL:libintl_bind_textdomain_codeset

I didn't say six MAIN characters :) and as for the number of BG pics: I'm planning to make the most of every location, story-wise. Most places will be used multiple times.

Hm... It looks like Gimp is finding a different version of intl.dll than the one it expects. You may want to search your drives to see if you have more than one copy of intl.dll.

Oh, and welcome to DLL hell.

Never mind about the GIMP problem. I fixed it and got it running. I just need to experiment with the program now.
