#1 Post by Sailerius »

so it isn't a visual novel but the rules say anime-related projects are allowed too

Plot
Vacant Sky revolves around the story of Auria Edith, who's whisked away from her everyday life following her own sudden murder. After reawakening on the other side of the world, she now seeks a way home. However, the Virad, a masked cult tied to several gruesome murders, have other plans for her...

Remarks
I realize that Act I is extremely linear and that the writing is pretty hollow at parts, but I hope that doesn't discourage you from checking it out. I got a lot of feedback after Act I and I took it to heart in Act II, which I feel is an improvement in every way. Act I was my first experiment into game design, and I learned a lot of lessons that I applied in the next release. Even if it's hard to get through Act I, it's worth it just for the music!

I did not. ^^; Is that forbidden? The forum rules only specified that it had to be visual novel, ren'ai, bishoujo, or anime-related.

Not forbidden. It's just what many people use, so I think lorddon was just wondering, since if you had used Ren'py, it would have taken a high level of customization to get it to look like that.

Okay, whew. I was afraid I had broken a rule for a minute.

Unfortunately, it isn't. ^^; I've gotten it to work with Parallels before, though.

Ho. Lee. Crap.

I approve.
She's sun and rain: She's fire and ice. A little crazy, but it's nice.

See, this is what I meant to post in. Way to go, me.

Anyways, I just thought I'd show up and mention that I was also involved in making this game happen. I'm the one who made all of those buggy battlers.

What -did- you make this with? XD

Also, did you have someone do the tiles/did them yourselfs? they are very well done. :3

It was made with
RPG Maker XP >< but don't let that discourage you from playing it.
The tiles are all edits of defaults, most of which I made myself. Thanks. XD I tried to create cohesion with the color scheme in each map. Give it a shot--I could really use feedback before I start on the third and final part.

I downloaded, but I was a bit too busy to play a lot of it today.

The theme song was pretty awesome though.

I'm a bit confused about the controls though. How do you access the pause menu? Also, is there any way to make it run full screen?

Thanks for checking it out! Hope you enjoy.

Regarding the controls:
* Escape accesses the main menu, but it's disabled in the prologue.
* Alt+enter toggles fullscreen.

Since the screens are all of Act I, here's one of the new portraits in Act II:

Since a few people have been asking, you need to clear Act I before you can import your savedata into Act II. Once the credits for Act I complete, it gives you the opportunity to save again.

Haven't played very far yet, but I wanted to say the music for this game is simply amazing. Love it. XD
I'll probably have more to say once I've finished the game(s).
