[DEMO COMPLETE]a hentai game accessible to mainstream users!

#1 Post by WestWestGames »

West West has been studying the market and we have decided that the time is right for us to pre-launch our brilliant new idea. The reason hentai games have not seen the sort of success that mass-market games like the Halo, World of Warcraft, and Duke Nukem serieses have enjoyed is complicated, but boils down to a few simple factors:
- Confusing, inaccessible situations. Most hentai games are set in japanese, science-fiction, or fantasy settings; only users already familiar with these settings can readily identify with the characters.
- Ratings restrictions. Most hentai games are only available to adults, making it difficult to convince mainstream chains such as Wal-Mart to stock them.
- 2D art. Market research has repeatedly shown that 3D games sell better than 2D games. For example, Duke Nukem Forever is a 3D game - but very few players are even aware that the franchise began with a 2D game!

Our new game will combine accessible characters, a family-safe rating, and gorgeously rendered 3D art to bring the joy of hentai games to the American audience! I've attached demos so that you can see what we are talking about - we are confident that once you have played our game, you will be as eager as we are to play the finished version.

This is, of course, a major commercial project. We are currently recruiting final artists, 3D modelers, a programmer, a music team, a localization team, a branding team, a writing team, voice actresses, and secretarial staff for the project. As we are a startup, we do not have sufficient venture capital to pay salaries - however, we will be offering stock in the company as a completion bonus to all programmers. Imagine what you would have made if you got in on the ground floor of something like the Google search engine, the Microsoft word processor, or the DivX video rental system, and you will see that the stock you will receive upon completion is in fact worth far more than the work you will put into it.

*so confused at the terms "hentai" and "family-safe" being used in the same context that her brains asplode and she staggers away gibbering madly without getting anything else out of the post*
Grand list of things not officially canceled:
Salt -- the heartwarming story of brain-eating space worms
Tangent -- an epic poem and/or novel about a borderline-autistic Martian imp and her relationship with God
Kittens of the Darned -- a grimdark soap opera about sexy catgirls (Indefinitely postponed until I learn to draw and color realistically)
The Other Mary -- the most perfect fic about the most perfect Mary Sue EVER
Rockheart -- a short story about a monster who kills everyone
Corrupted -- a completely different short story about a monster who kills everyone (late Worst Visual Novel Ever)
Checkpoint 36a -- the transcription of a short multi-ending dream about time travel and undead schoolgirls
In Which the Princess is Kidnapped -- an entry in the "ordinary girl ends up in an alien universe and tries to save it" genre
Pictogram Scramble: Magical Friendship Bunny Ivy -- a Flash game about a magical girl making friends (Indefinitely postponed until I learn how friendship works)

Two things that I feel compelled to point out:

1. Hentai basically means 'perverted', i.e. porn. The term you are actually looking for is 'visual novel'.
2. Why would anyone jump at the idea of coming on board for a commercial project when the only contributors offered any sort of compensation are the programmers, and even in their case it is not a guarantee? An offer of stock is meaningless if the project doesn't do as well as projected, and I don't understand why only the programmers are offered even that, anyhow.

I think that, at some point, the date slipped my mind.
I should have played the game first...xDD;;

Are you an actual legitimate company or just some guy with nothing more than a dream? I believe the problem is the culture difference between eastern and western countries. Westerners don't like visual novels in general (some do most don't). I mean all the player actually does is read the story while making choices on how the story advances here and there. Not exactly the fast paced games people are used to. Just because a game is in 2D doesn't mean it won't sell well, the pokemon series proves that point. Even if you do make a visual novel for all ages, I doubt many publishers will back your game. It will take more than simpily replacing 2D anime images for 3D rendered ones to convince HMV, Toy R Us, Wal Mart etc to stock your game.

Clearly Strum doesn't see the visionary genius of WestWestGames. Nor the calendar. ^_^

Well played! Hilariously self-contradictory posting, hilarious game, and just enough subtlety to actually fool people. I loved the censored ending.

It's also Fri Apr 02, 2010 9:28 am for me. At first I thought that this is an April Fool, but when I saw the timestamp... but then again I already took time difference into account (my timezone is faster exactly 12 hours than NY).

That's when the first post was posted in my time. So probably Strum is in a timezone like mine. ;)
