Haha, I made that same mistake too! I read that entry on June 14th and misread the deadline as June 15th and I thought "HOLY. SHIT. I have one night to finish the script. AAAHHHHH"

...and then I realized it was July 15th. HAHAHA.

I'll be entering too since beastiewolf's art looks EPIC and I'd love to collaborate with her on a VN.

I noticed the maximum length is 3,000 words... I haven't completed a VN yet, can someone with experience tell me how much playing time that will be? 10 minutes?

As far as I can tell that 250-3000 word limit is for the script example. I don't see a limit for the entire story anywhere in the posts.

Taking the 250-300 words/minute average adult reading speed from Wikipedia, it would take around 10-12 minutes to read a text of 3000 words. I have no idea how much time the other aspects of a VN will take, but I think +10% would be a reasonable estimate for the time for a player to look at the art and for transitions.
