Visual Novel Writing Contest!

#1 Post by Beastiewolf »

Alright you guys, if you've always wanted your visual novel idea to come to life, here is how!

Basically, you write the script, and I'll make it for you!

But it's a contest, so you must do a good job. :3

Here is a link to the contest on DA:

http://news.deviantart.com/article/119207/

It's only available to those with a deviant art account. Sorry. D= But it's easier to communicate that way.

Be sure to let me know if you're having troubles! My email is beastie-wolf@hotmail.com if you want to email me or you can note or comment me on DA.

HAPPY TRAVELS. Please join I only had 4 entries before. ;_;

I'm just about to sent a post here to revive the thread.

Yeah, I'm also going to participate on this one.

You think it needed reviving after four whole hours of inactivity?

No, but I heard from the person that made this contest that he posted a thread in LSF about this contest a long time ago. I'm referring to that thread.

But since there's already this one (I mean this thread), I don't see the need anymore... but I still post anyway.

May we take a look at the prize? By that I mean can we see a mock screenshot of what a visual novel made by you would look like. A simple character pasted onto a background with a text box will do. If you're work is as good as

Blizz's Hakumu-Genshou
http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... =16&t=6824
Image

or Rinrin's The Stolen Diamond Ring
http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... =11&t=5609
Image

or maybe even Counter-art's Fading Hearts
http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... =11&t=6199
Image

Then I'm sure a lot more people would be interested. For me, those are people who anyone would love to have on their team. I'm not trying to put you down or anything cause I really want to see what you can do. Its just when people have to compete to get something they want to take a look at their prize.

She has a deviantArt account, which is basically a portfolio of her art. She out and out says that she's doing the contest to build experience. Put those together and you would've had answers to your questions. I can see you trying to "help" her with this post, but listing examples of people she needs to be at least as good as to tempt you? That's kinda rude.

You know, it's just nice of her to pull off this contest in the first place.

At least you'd get a free artist and programmer with a dA subscription if you win. That's cool enough for me. :D

Whoa, I'm away for three days, and I got more comments than expected. XD

To Strum: Well, my style isn't as pretty as that first screenshot, but that second one is about right (without the cell shading- I do soft-cell).
It's alright, it was pretty rude, but I can understand you'd wanna see without wading through my gallery. XD Here's some of my best works for those who want a look-see (I'd rather you see these than anything else, too):

My first (good) photoshop painting:
http://beastiewolf.deviantart.com/art/P ... 8885&qo=20

I wanted to test color palletes:
http://beastiewolf.deviantart.com/art/E ... 8885&qo=16

My second (good) painting in photoshop:
http://beastiewolf.deviantart.com/art/M ... 8885&qo=14

HAVE SOME HARUHI:
http://beastiewolf.deviantart.com/art/T ... 68885&qo=5

Winner of best emotion (scribbly, but fun to look at):
http://beastiewolf.deviantart.com/art/H ... 8885&qo=21

Second place for best emotion (it oozes cute sadness!):
http://beastiewolf.deviantart.com/art/A ... 68885&qo=0

My first vector picture (IT'S HARDER THAN IT LOOKS):
http://beastiewolf.deviantart.com/art/T ... 68885&qo=3

I know it's a lot of links, but it'd be great if you'd take a look. :3 It's all practice, so none of the style is really set in stone. It's also not in any particular order, so some of these were done in 2008. XD

To Aleema & Lepapillonrouge: Thanks for standing up for me. :3

Thank you for showcasing you best works. Also my apologies if I come across as being rude, but its no small statement to say you can make a game any way we want it. I naturally grew curious and just had to see some examples. Despite being curious I'm also too lazy to wade through your portfolio and wanted you to pick out the ones you think are the best. The Haruhi picture helps a lot for people see what their game could look like. The picture above the last one from the bottom is fine example of what a cg scene could look like. As I said before, I'm not trying to put you down although if you felt that way it wasn't intentional. The examples I posted are only what I expect a game to look like if I were to enter.

Wow, this is a great offer. Best of luck for the contest!

It's great art, I think whoever wins this will have an awesome looking game. :)

@ Strum: Good luck with that- anyone that good wouldn't waste time making a game for someone else. XD

@ Riviera: Thank you! :3

The DA page linked to in the first post says it's a 15th of July deadline. So - is it the 15th of July yet?

Argh - I'm sorry, I mis-read, thought it said 15th June. Thank you. I'll submit an entry asap.
Your artwork is really nice, Beastiewolf.
