Winn Freddie: the art-less draft

#1 Post by gekiganwing »

Right now, my story "Winn Freddie's Road to the Sadie Hawkins Dance" is just about done. I've done a few revisions here and there, and checked it for errors and inconsistencies. And so I present version 1.3: the art-less draft. No illustrations or music, but at this point, I figure there's not *much* more I can add to improve the story. This edition will be sent to an archive site in a day or two, assuming the maintainers approve it.

I tried to attach the latest edition to this forum in a zip file called "sadie.zip," but the forum said it was an empty file. So until I figure out why, just put on pop up blockers and get the file from my annoying old Tripod site: http://gekiganwing.tripod.com.

(I didn't make this game an all out farce. If I want to do one last week of improvements before I pester an archivist, then additional humor would be the last real improvement that might be appropriate. The story is humorous, but it's more quirky than anything else.)

Will do my best to follow up on replies!

I have the same problem with my game. It says that it's an empty file.

Hm... I don't know precisely what's going on with this yet. In the meantime, if you want, you can email me at the address below, and I will host your files on one of my servers, at least on a temporary basis.

I know I'm late mentioning it, but...

Py'Tom has the draft of my story hosted at http://www.renai.us/hosted.

(PS: My next project is well underway. I have two more characters to introduce, so in the next 7-10 days I will have something to show. Until then, I -will- be looking for places where I can ask for art!)

How do I run this game on linux?
renaming the game folder to sadie and copying to 5.1.3 folder and runing with python run_game.py --game sadie gives errors.

the default game that came with 5.1.3 runs fine.

You'll need to grab the run_game.py from Ren'Py 4.7, as sadie uses that ancient version of Ren'Py.

Thanks. Some of the renpy games I've downloaded are 4.7ish, so I snagged it from one of those and it worked.
