Magical Diary (Sim/RPG) now with trailer video

Sorry, it is a modern magical school setting (though we have done some world-building for it), and it is mostly light-hearted romance and fluff (wacky fanfiction, remember), rather than a Deep and Insightful Story. This is not in the Fatal Hearts or Date Warp mold of game. It is more about designing your own character and going through his/her life and having your own story to tell at the end of it. It's a sim, not a VN!

As for progress and how the RPG elements are going to work, I can't tell you because I find it absolutely impossible to give progress estimates until things are near completion AND we haven't actually coded the RPG part yet and the design may change due to code practicality and playtesting, so I really can't help being mysterious on these matters.

In the first game in the series, yes. If everything goes well there will be multiple games in the same setting and some of them will be male main characters. I'll probably have votes to help determine which subsetting to do next.

Lint stats at the moment: 14381 words / 1221 screens / 22 menus.
Amount of game actually written... only the first two weeks out of an entire school year.

This is going to be a bit of a ride. (Although the number of events in weeks is not even.)

But there was a lot of stuff that had to happen in the first two weeks, with meeting people for the first time, learning the ropes, and going through Freshman Initiation. (and some events that may not actually occur in the first two weeks because the player may not have triggered them yet! And some complicated events that can only occur in week one but may never occur at all!) The rest of the first month will be much lighter on new events, until the first test at the end of the month.

Rounding out week 4, which means doing the first test, the sneak peek into the dungeons, and getting a few Special Magical FX going (still ironing out the kinks on those) Stats now:

The game contains 1,870 screens of dialogue.
These screens contain a total of 21,572 words,
for an average of 11.5 words per screen.
The game contains 34 menus.

As I said, the amount per-week is not exactly steady. Only twenty-something more weeks to go?

Oh my gosh, I feel your pain on the "school-year" thing. The current project I'm writing takes place from September-March of a school year and it is PAINFUL how long it takes to write everything out. It's not like I'm doing an event every single day, but the sheer amount of time that's to be covered is intense.

Wow! That really is ambitious.. that said, so looking forward to this. I've always had a soft spot for slice of life type games. Especially school ones. Especially MAGICAL ones.
