I usually don't care that much for 3D (especially when it comes to feeling for a character) but... wow

. It looks like it would work wonders and allow nice backgrounds too ^.^.
What did you render these with ?

Aiko is a package provided by
DAZ. They once had a promo and provided Aiko for free. I think I made a thread here when that occured... But yeah, they also provide other 3D packages and rendering programs.
Anyways, a 3D VN will be interesting to see, BCS. Is this for your IntRenAiMo?

On the subject of IntRenAiMo, I edited my last post in the "gearing up" thread (it doesn't show itself as new though), sorry about that.
Back on topic, I think a 3D game is great, even if it should just be a static VN, and Aiko is very animeish as well, so the manga feel won't suffer either. Looks good from the first renders ^_^

I was thinking of doing the same thing myself someday, but I doubt I could make it look as good as that...

The images look sharp, BCS; I especially like the study window. I must admit, though, that if I had seen the images of the woman with no other context, I would have thought, "I wonder if that's Aiko."
This may not be fair, as I downloaded the DAZ3D Studio and Aiko, Michael and Victoria a couple of weeks ago. (Yeah, I'm a scrooge; I just grabbed the free stuff. ^_^) I saw it mentioned in the original ALICE thread here. I actually got DAZ because I was looking for something to use instead of a live model for drawing.
I ended up using renders of Aiko (run through an edge detection filter, then inverted) as 2-D "torso" printouts upon which to do character design and wardrobe sketches, and that's worked out really well for female characters. (For the male characters, Michael was far too muscly, and I actually ended up using the Victoria body as the base! o_o)
Other than that, and possibly using it to get lighting/shading right, I don't see myself using DAZ for anything else, even if I had all the character and object packs. I'm not wild about the 3-D/rendered look. But it's a lot easier to PowerPose an Aiko model to get a sketch right than to flip through a few thousand pages of reference material or hire a live model.
I'd love to see you make something come together with renders, BCS... not because I love renders (I don't) but because it's a direction that I haven't seen anyone try before. There's obviously no shortage of innovation in this community. ^_^

God bless the man who invented bump mapping*. And also the guy who invented obscenely short school uniform skirts**.
Anyhow, looking forward to seeing this in a game.
* Yes, I do know that's not really done with bump mapping.
** See Stellvia (my favorite series, for other reasons), which postulates a society in which the establishment of an obscenely short school uniform can actually predate the establishment of the corresponding school.

*L. Zeta thanks Kamisama for such short skirts not being worn at his school*
*D. Zeta wishes they were*
hmm... I wonder if it's still up for [legal] download. that may solve a couple issues as far as TOZSP is concerned (though checking with chuck might be a good idea... he was looking into this cel-shaded (?) 3d animation program [I'd have to ask him again what it was, but it was Japanese (I think)] for it.

There are lots of cel-shading application extras for Poser (Vue Infinite 5) and 3dsMax (Toon Shader).
