My main reason for changing "Zelda" to "Melda" is because "The Legend of Zelda" is intellectual property belonging to Nintendo, and even though I doubt they would care if I poked fun at their franchise...

Parodies are only exempt from the copyright laws regarding the thing they are parodying. So using zelda characters to make fun of zelda is fine. Using zelda characters to make fun of the leadership of the democratic party, is not fine.

Using the words of the leadership of the democratic party to make fun of the leadership of the democratic party is perfectly fine, if perhaps a little _too_ easy. ;-P
