It is 2112.

The Holy Grail Wars of the late twentieth century finally came to an end.

That two such rituals of five held in Japan could be so easily corrupted proved they were not worth the risk.
Through the heroism of two young magi and their Servants, the second cursed Grail was destroyed.
The story of the flaws in the ritual spread faster than the ritual could.
United in a single purpose, the Magi and the Church outlawed Holy Grail Wars.
Where the ritual began, the great families and the Church ended them before they could conclude in tragedy.

There was the beginning of peace for the Magus families,
and with them events unfolded to bring the beginning of peace to earth.

Man, part divided, part united, has traveled far.
The discovery of unique fungi and bacteria on Mars has driven commerce into orbit.
Great luxuries not possible to make on Earth are made on the Crimson Planet.
Wines and cheeses of unimaginable price are loaded onto the shipyards of Phobos,
bound for the elite of Earth.
Vinters, cheesemakers and other artisans can earn great wealth here.
Dockworkers, pilots, and and shipmen can make a living.

Where workers came, families followed.
Where families came, the Great Families of Magi followed.

Now, a very dangerous Magus has come to Mars.
Far from the eyes of the Consilorium Majestic.
Setting in place the ritual that can grant your heart's desire,
Or twist it into your heart's fear.

This is the Ritual called the Holy Grail War,
the first such War to ensue on the Planet of War...

This is the fanproject called Fate/Crimson Rebirth! It's a VN I'm doing purely for the lulz, for free, combining my love of sci-fi and the Nasuverse into one giant Reese's Peanut Butter Cup of Plot with MANA DRAGON.

Why the hell am I doing this? Because I want a project to do that doesn't feel like work while doing BS and finishing up TS, that's why. I'm probably even going to test-run this with an alpha-reader Let's Play, where you goons wait... this isn't Something Awful, so I need a better name get to vote on the twists and turns of the plot (with MANA DRAGON) of this particular Holy Grail War.

I'm going to say right now that this game is

post Unlimited Blade Works True Ending.

I'm going to say that because it's not a spoiler FOR THIS GAME to say that the main character, a young Magus specializing in Alchemy named Helena Isodore, will summon Blacksmith (second from the right) to repeat the task for which made him a Hero -

to destroy the Holy Grail and end the ritual. He's Shirou Emiya, the Hero who ended the Grail Wars.

Like F/SN, there will be three paths, and several male and female suitors vying for Helena's attention her arcology she's living in, and vicious, deadly battles between Helena, Blacksmith and the other seekers of the Grail. Like F/SN (and Bliss Stage), it all comes down to whether you're an idealist, a pragmatist or a sensitive young woman - Will you screw fate, accept your fate, or submit to fate?

This sounds really epic, for a weird reason I knew who the blacksmith was before reading the spoiler.
Defender and Gunner class looks awesome.

I couldn't really justify keeping that much of a secret - Helena is deliberately summoning him with a Greater Plot Device of Romantic Overtones. Fortunately, she's doing it because they're compatible, not to get Teh Strongest.

Any thoughts on who those two might be? I admit there really isn't much information to go on, but people who guess correctly will get a free character design from me (or similar). Post that under spoilers, though.

I hope Defender and Gunner don't die too early, also I just noticed, no Assassin? He was one of my favorites, even though he actually did nothing in all the routes.

I think you'll find that Defender is extremely awesome if you liked Assassin.

She also has the massive benefit of having actually existed.

And Gunner... he's a HUGE part of the plot, and probably one of the romanceable characters. He's also 16 and the closest this game is getting to a token shota. That's how it works; male protag, token loli: female, token shota.

Fun fact: according to this game, Ciel is a title, an alias held by a top Church witchfinder operative. Other witchfinders of high rank include Mare, Ignis and Terra.

It's kind of like calling a spy James Bond that way.

I know who she is, and she isn't her. Wrong culture, unless I miss my guess, for one.

The list of Servants for this, BTW (and I just thought of an awesome Assassin, who I may or may not be using)-

Archer - Unknown. Young European woman with long blond hair, with great skill in the longbow and crossbow. Has been known to use grenades, as well. Crossbow bolts move at incredible speed and explode when they hit, suggesting her crossbow is a Noble Phantasm.

Assassin - Unknown. European man with short black hair, usually well-dressed. Prefers to use a pistol or numerous concealed weapons to attack. Stealthy. Charming and flirtatious; affects being flippant.

Blacksmith - Emiya Shirou. Japanese man with red hair and beard. Able to conjure weapons and armor out of raw material, or from nothing. Very aggressive on the attack. Has the Reality Marble Unlimited Blade Works.

Caster - Unknown. Woman of unknown nationality, wears a hooded cloak. Capable of many Earth and Fire offensive spells. Uses a sheathed dagger Noble Phantasm as a wand, and a simple, gemstone tipped staff. Appears to be working with the Church.

Defender - Unknown. Japanese woman with long black hair. Wears a multilayered kimono with wooden and leather armor sewn into it as armor. Armed with a Noble Phantasm halberd. Seems kind and gentle, out of combat.

Fighter - Unknown. Chinese man with short black hair. Superb athlete. Very serious demeanor. Always wears long-sleeved shirts or jackets, suggesting a clue to his identity on his back, chest or arms. Appears to be unhappy with his Master, a Magus from the People's Republic of China.

Gunner - Unknown. European-American teenage boy with short, light brown hair. Weak constitution, often gets minor illnesses. Armed with a Noble Phantasm assault rifle and 'pineapple grenades,' as well as a Purple Heart that serves as a talisman against ranged attacks. Very cheerful and an eager soldier.

Lancer - Unknown. Chinese woman with a long black ponytail. Armed with a Noble Phantasm gliave and Chinese lamellar armor. Superb at defensive combat and probing for weaknesses. Appears to be greatly enjoying the war, and known for love of simple food and drink and of shameless flirtation with men and women.

Rider - Unknown. Bakeneko-class security bioroid with calico markings. Of unknown and recent origin. Wears a flightsuit with clothing over that, and appears to possess a Noble Phantasm Tiger-Class Fighter. Known to be very affectionate and romantic towards her Master, a veteran of the defense of Taiwanese Ceres.

Saber - Unknown. African man with braided brown hair. Wears elaborate wooden and cloth armor. Armed with a large, curved sword. Has been known to cast minor offensive spells using light and fire as weapons. Appears to be a decent driver and pilot.

Seer - Unknown. Asian man of unknown origin with wild short black hair and glasses. Supernatural ability to detect danger and to detect and identify magical beings. Does not have obvious weaponry. Prefers to avoid fighting whenever possible. Friendly but quiet. Prone to anger.
