Sweet Misery

#1 Post by LoveMeSomeCake » Wed Feb 23, 2011 2:26 am

My first VN and I am planning on finishing it!! (I hope so...)

I will update with art soon! (In about 2 days or so.. at the latest the weekend! Sit tight!)

Title: Sweet Misery (May change)
Genre: Psychological, Survival, Puzzle(?), Friendship/Slice of Life
Rating: Teen, PG-13
Endings: Around 3-4 (One ending will be the true ending)

Synopsis: Sweet Misery focuses on Red who is awakened by a powerful headache that rivals a one-too-many-tequila-shots hangover. With no recollection of any memories previous to her current state, Red wanders in total darkness until she follows a sweet scent. Led by her nose, Red comes across a kingdom made up of fairy tale castles and sweet delicacies: gumdrops, lollipops, candy canes and chocolate to name a few. A little girl's dream. Shortly after her arrival, she comes across other travelers and finds out that they are all participants in a game to find the lost queen. It is up to the player whether or not Red (and her companions) survive as they try to reach their goal and go back to home sweet home.

Characters (may change/edited):

Red: The protagonist the player controls for the entire game. A stubborn hard-headed girl who does not take kindly to criticism. She is not afraid to speak her mind and is more oriented to 'Attack first, ask questions later.' She is aware that her over confidence brings trouble and tries to delegate any problems to the other 'players,' which usually ends in mass hysteria especially with Green. Over the course of the game, the player is able to make choices that may affect her personality.

Blue: A girl Red befriends in the beginning of the game. Blue is calm and is flexible in social situations, making it easy for her to find common ground with others. She is quiet most of the time and is ready to lend an ear to someone in need. In the group, she is the voice of reason. Some say she is trying to please everyone and her kindness is easy to take advantage of, but when push comes to shove, Blue hits back. Hard.

Yellow: An optimistic young man who relies more on faith and hope than compared to scientific facts. The girls call him a daydreamer and he often has his head in the clouds. He is often viewed as naive and a child for his "innocent" world view that everyone has good in them. Despite his cheery aura, Yellow often thinks what right and wrong is and his own crimes he has committed. Yellow has romantic feelings for Blue, which are reciprocated.

Green: This girl has got it all: intelligence, beauty, and style. Worst/Best of all, she KNOWS she got it all and Green has no trouble flaunting it around. She is sarcastic and enjoys arguing/debating with Red because she usually wins. Despite her cocky attitude, Green is a hard worker and is eager to exchange knowledge with others. She approaches serious situations with a sense of humor to keep any negative thoughts at bay. Her philosophy: Life is short; enjoy it while you can and have fun, DAMMIT!!

Questions For You Guys If You Want To Answer (More to come!):

Is the plot to cliche or sound too cheesy?

Are the characters unbalanced? Do they seem solid? (Of course they will be developed in game)

It looks fun, are the character names colors? or you just did that to differentiate them?
I'd love to see some art for this, and will give a more coherent opinion when I get more information.

<--- Loves tequila.

Thank you.

@Kael

Yup their names are indeed colors because they are just "mere pieces" in the game. I suppose the colors do have significance to their personalities and the story itself. Will be posting some art soon! :)

This one looks interesting, and as for your question: I think it is a tiny bit cliche, it's the travelers searching for a common person thing... I think i've read or watched it somewhere before, I just can't recall. No worries though, because every story has its own sense of cliche the same way it has it's own sense of uniqueness and don't worry it doesn't sound too cheesy it sounds cool actually. Your characters are well though out too, with your character descriptions I can already relate myself to Blue, and I think i'm starting to find green annoying (Shame though, since green is one of my favorite colors.)
I'll be looking forward to this and I can't wait to see the art.
And if you need a proofreader, editor, or co-writer just ask, I won't hesitate to help you. :D
Good luck~

It's in Samurai Champloo, I believe (the samurai who smells of sunflowers? Never actually watched it...).
