My first background :/ How do you make your backgrounds?

A little while ago I used sketchUP and Photoshop to make a background [since I could not find a BG maker for my game, and it was a paid job.=[ It was supposed to be the outside of an art studio on a sunny day but it didn't turn out well. I was wondering how everybody else does their backgrounds, like do you use a 3D program, Sketch it out on a tablet etc... What type of programs do you use?

I don't know how to render in Sketch, so I just use it for perspective & lines. Colours in Photoshop



Also need to draw some details like cups or dishes

camera always at hand then trace over basic form then modify it heavily.
If wanted image isn't available, i go to PD images/freeware images/stock

There's a question though, I tried to download Sketchup but, I guess my PC has problem with the language package, or something..

Either way, I think what Yon said is right, unless you have more skills to make BG from scratch..

Me?... I use Sketchup, Twilight Renderer (lately V-Ray) and Photoshop...

Edit: Although I mentioned Twilight Render it is not for everyone since it is very expensive... you can replace it with any Renderer as long as it has Clay Render Option... kerkythea is a highly recommended replacement (Since it's FREE!)

Hiya mugen!! I see yours r good, but it's style is in 3d is it? Can u do some layout for me? I'll b the one coloring it, so it'll b in d 2d style. I'm not that good with software, but I can do a little drawing and coloring though.
Just if u have any spare timee...

I only use photoshop and MOSTLY from scratch until done, I use ONLY brush... need to learn other function...

Ahahahahahaha! Andaming ganyan talaga sa BGs na ginagawa ni Mugen.... naaalala ko tuloy may nakasulat na "BURAOT" dun sa bintana sa convenience store sa The Fucking Question. (Pati na rin yung PaQ! Kala mo di ko alam yun no? 8D)

Not as long as you have the rights to use the photograph. Either make sure the photograph is public domain, ask permission, use stock image sites, or take it yourself.

Though unless you are using it for commercial purposes most people won't care.
