Okay, so I found the links via http://wiki.renai.us/wiki/Background_Art but yeah, you know it's mostly in Japanese and you need a long time enough to find where's the page that contains free images.

Here, I want to help you. I just love to explore, that's why, lol.

First. Free images for background.
Example:


Nah, I just found this site which offers some free VN backgrounds for newbies. These are illustration bgs, not anime bgs.

The original site is (Japanese): http://www.dx.sakura.ne.jp/~cogawa/fff/

I've google translate the site to English here: http://is.gd/2gNPII

I've "google translate" that site (from Japanese to English). But you still need to do some steps to find the bgs. (The original site is in Japanese. What I'll write (menu links and such) is the version which already translated in English)

- Look at the left sidebar. Choose menu "Progress MATERIAL".
- Another sidebar will appear beside the main sidebar. Click menu "Sample NO. All stock photos"

Then a table will appear. It contains image type (some with noon, evening, night version), and some comments / descriptions.
Just click the link (noon/evening/night) to get the images. However I found some links aren't working anymore. But still, there's many links which are still working.

And this is more free bgs for VN for newbies. These pics are painting/drawing bgs, not anime. Great drawings, I'll say.

Note: What I write is already in English translated version.

Here the steps:
- Scroll down the page till you get the text "Background Material"
- Do you see this text "Page: <a> <two> <3> <four>" beside the text "background material"? Those are links. But seems there are some mistakes with the link so you only can click "Page", "<a>", and "<3>". You can click "<four>" but the page will be same as "<3>".
- A table will appear under those links. The images with comments from the artist. Just click the images if you want to download it.

Examples for images will appear with descriptions. Do you see text like this: "six hundred 800 × / × six hundred and forty four hundred and eighty"? Those are links. "six hundred 800 ×" means image in 600 x 800 and "× six hundred and forty four hundred and eighty" means the size is 600x480.
There are two sizes, download what you like.




Apartment Set / House set

- And for more, there's a picture with "Dinning" as tittle, and there's link "here" on its description.
- If you click that "here", new images will appear. Those are 3D images for apartment set (toilet, living room, kitchen etc) with floor plan at the bottom of page if you use all image.
- Same as before, you just need to click link "six hundred 800 ×" or "× six hundred and forty four hundred and eighty" to download them.
