Appendagechild Art

#1 Post by Appendagechild » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:02 am

I'm making a thread for art stuff.
I'm hoping to work on a visual novel eventually, but I'm new to Ren'py and don't know how to do code.

My first idea is fantasy story sprites.
This is a princess (She has 3 fingers on purpose, I was going for a cartoon-y style)
Sprites1 Sprites2 Sprites3

She needs some action-y sprites, but I guess I want critique on character design, and suggestions.

I have a cold right now, but I'll update soon.

Free practice art:
1 GeneDNC
2 Lotus
3 Azuretwilight

You made her look sweet!

Even though I ,personally, am not a really big fan of the cartoon-like style- I like this!!! :'D

Aaand- excuse me, I don't know what critique I could give, since I have no experience with this style. ^^;

Thank you!

I'm not sure what to do about this, I keep drawing robots but I can't code a game good enough for robots...

I can totally see a cute novel with those two robots spending a summer vacation by the sea. Totally cute! :)

Dude, I love your style. I think it's simply adorable. Do you have any sketches or roughs to show? I'd love to see those if you do.

Roughs of what, the robots? because I didn't keep the sketch layers on they gray one, and the red one has weird looking layers. If you just mean random sketch stuff I can find one, any specifics?

I like to see unfinished art and finished art, it tells a lot about how you draw! So if you have anything feel free to put it up? :>

I don't draw stuff like those robots usually. People get confused when I post things on art sites because I'm so inconsistent.

^ The first one- is really good!!! Impressing, your bases are so simple and then you just create awesome stuff on top of them! I've always admired people who can just sketch with very little before that. OTL Something I wish I could do one day.

I used to sketch exactly like the line-art, but then I realized it was like drawing the same picture twice and my sketches got simpler and simpler until they ended up as lines and circles. I usually do outlines, but the first one just had hints of where things could go.

Bump- I can't decide what colors to use for this sprite :o

I'm partial to the purple one, then the green one next to it.

Here's a sprite sketche for Celest in wonderland. Just waiting for VN to get online and comment about my BG

I might need ideas for making the Doormouse higher, I'm not sure how she'll look behind the textbox
