Renpy with Windows 8 support?

I've began researching the Windows 8 developers area recently, because being a Windows 8 user I'd like to make a few apps by myself, and while I was reading I was wondering, "could Ren'py (somtime in the future) support the publishing to Windows 8?" There's already Android support, which is great, but I think a Windows 8 support would be neat as well. Of course, it'd have to be straining to create another SDK that let's you make your VN is Visual Basics 2012..just a thought of mine. Could it be possible? Even if you'd have to manually code it yourself?

Doesn't Ren'Py already support Windows 8?
It doesn't support the ARM-based Windows RT machines, or the MS store, but that's due to the closed nature of the WinRT platform. (And also the lack of success of that platform.) It should work fine on the desktop, though.

Considering the total failure (so far) of the Windows 8 store, even assuming pytom was interested (which he isn't

) it would be a waste of time to add Ren'Py support for it

For Win8 desktop mode, is important to codesign the installer, since otherwise end users might have trouble with the usual "the world will end if you install this app!" messages. Then again, WHO uses Win8?

You would be surprised to find out that A LOT of people do. Especially as it was out for almost a year now.
I was using Win8 since it released beta and had no issues with it so far. Games run slightly faster, that was the only difference between Win8 and Win7. All programs can be ran backwards compatable so that issue is out of the window as well. And it comes with IE10/IE9 preinstalled, which I absolutelly love as a web dev. People stop calling me and asking why certain page is not appearing correctly (and we all know that IE8 and earlier should be nuked!)

based on Steam survey (which is what interests me since is about gamers):

only 15% use Win8, I think because they had no choice (comes preinstalled with a lots of devices).

That's just for Steam gamers, not every gamer in general

Also, most people don't get to change their computers to fancier ones every other year or so, which is a reason a lot of people are still with Windows 7 because when it was out, it was pre-installed in all the latest computers.
So, yeah

Personally, I'm waiting for Windows 8.1. It's supposed to be out sometime this month. Then I'll wait 6 months, let early adopters help Microsoft work out the kinks, and then it should be ready to upgrade to! It'll make me nostalgic for Windows 3.1 - the first Microsoft OS I ever had. What an improvement over DOS! You know, except for playing games.

Well, seeing as how Steam has over 20 million active users, a huge variety of games from AAA releases to indie pixel art games (so games for high-end and low-end computers), and support gaming on PC, Mac, and Linux, they are going to be an incredibly accurate picture of gamers "in general". Pretty much any statistic they give is going to be accurate to within a few percentage points.

True, but still not everyone takes surveys. But like I said; many people aren't using Windows 8 because it wasn't their pre-installed system. I'm sure there's more regular people then there are programmer people in the world, the regular people usually sticking to their same computer and OS for years until they get enough money for an upgrade xD Pretty much why people aren't using Windows 8 that much. Not because it sucks (which it doesn't) and is buggy (doesn't have as much bugs as Win7), but because it wasn't their pre-installed OS. :p
