Screen "yesno_prompt" or screen "confirm" ?

#1 Post by xavimat »

In the changelog for 6.99.10 it's said that:
The yesno_prompt screen has been renamed to confirm, with the old name being retained as an alias when a confirm screen is not present.
However, in the template the name is still "yesno-prompt". Shouldn't it be renamed in the template?

The question here is: if a file in the English template is modified, all template translations should be modified too. I was updating the Spanish translation when I noticed it.

The idea is yes, but the goal will be to have that happen in the new gui that will be coming in 6.99.11-ish.

That will bring out a new paradigm for translation of the GUI and the template game. All the strings and comments in the template will wind up as translations in the launcher, and the gui template files themselves will have those translations applied when a creator generates a new project. This will make it possible to change the default gui templates without having to update a dozen translations. (There is an issue that the existing translations will be somewhat obsolete, but I will be creating a tool to take translations from the existing templates and apply them to the launcher.)

That's great!
the new gui that will be coming in 6.99.11-ish
Then, the current Changelog for 6.99.10 is not correct (or maybe I am the only one who actually reads the changelogs... ;) )

Thanks again, Tom.

Well, "confirm" will work, and I think it's what's documented. It's just that I haven't done the work to update the templates, since they're mostly slated for replacement.

Basically, I don't wait for Ren'Py to be perfect before releasing. Since if I did, nobody would be able to make games with what we have.
