Android development: "Progressive DCT" jpeg images problem

I’m having weird problems with jpeg images on Android.
Same images show just fine on PC or RenPy Android emulators.

On further examination, the problem exists with these types of images (info from exiftool.exe):
Image Width : 2560
Image Height : 1600
Encoding Process : Progressive DCT, Huffman coding
* Game itself is 1280, 720

There is no problem with smaller image sizes.
And no problem if same (big) image is converted to "Baseline DCT, Huffman coding" either.
The load time is 3-5 times longer for Progressive than same Baseline image.
I’ve a feeling it’s related to Android RenPy images libraries.
Don’t know if same problem exists on IOS.
I can post script and images if somebody wants to test.
