UWP support? (Xbox Creators Program)

#1 Post by Ceiyne »

Is there any possibility of adding the capability to compile to the UWP format? This would, amongst other things, open the door to getting Ren'Py-based games on the Xbox One via the Creators Program:

I think you'll find that if you read the fine print, publishing your games in that manner requires hardware which you do not have access to called a dev kit (all 'consoles' have one of these and you must have one in order to publish games on those platforms)

E: Scratch that
However, after strong gamer backlash spread across the net, Microsoft eventually decided they would support indie self-publishing through their new ID@Xbox initiative. Moreover, they revealed that every Xbox One console, even retail versions, would function as a dev kit.
It seems Microsoft has made it so ordinary XBones can become a dev kit.

UWP is something I'd like to support in the future, and that Microsoft has made much easier (with Project Centennial). I haven't worked on it, and it will take a totally different windows development environment than the current one, so getting the time to do it will be tough, but I plan to do it at some point.

Hey, I just come to ask if in those last 2 years there's any update on this subject ? I'm really curious about publishing on UWP and by extension on Xbox One, so my friends could try to play my games on their console instead of worrying about using their old laptops ^^

I agree with the question about UWP, that would be very helpful. Any plans for UWP?

I agree with everyone here! It's already amazing what you can do with an Xbox via UWP (like emulation) which would normally require a hacked console, now all you need is 20 bucks. If Renpy could work with this it would be amazing

Yeah cause I also tried to use MsIx to port my game and I can’t get it signed so UWP is the only way and Idk if they were did it. Hopefully one day.
