I guess you'd say yaoi? but with more mature, hunkier archetypes.

The distinction (in japan at least) is based on demographic. Bara is aimed to a male gay demographic. BL is aimed to a female demographic.

BL is dived into two groups. Shonen-Ai is for girls but yaoi is more for boys/men. Bara is a sub group of yaoi as is bears for gay.

I am currently developing a game that has a bara character in it. The game does not ask you on your gender just your name. Currently I'm waiting for artists to help me out but till then I'm writing up the script. It will be a long while before I'm done. Also I too like bara games you aren't alone!

I'm brand new to this forum, I haven't even posted an introduction yet! Yet I felt obligated to log in and respond to his thread just because of it's existence.

I -love- bara games. Really.
The only bad thing I have to say about any bara game is that the one with (dead!) furries is creepy as f*ck. I've forgotten it's title, sadly.
Anthropomorphic are present in many bara games now that I think of it. Mainly bears (as in the real deal animal) but sometimes wolves and tigers etc. too. Is the love for hunks and furry fandom connected somehow??

hi! Nice to see so much interest. yeah i noticed that about furry stuff too. I guess the love of hairy stocky mature men can easily turn into love for anthro bear characters.

Yaoi being more for men and boys is terribly incorrect. Yaoi is aimed at women. It's been described as 'Made for women by women'. In fact, I've met several gay men who hate yaoi with a passion but absolutely love bara.

Anyway, I've always wanted to make a bara game but only when I'm a lot more experianced with Ren'Py and such so I won't even be considering a plot or anything for a few more years. Good luck to anyone else working on one though. I've always wanted to play a bara game.
